The UFC returns to London, England, for the first time in nearly two years for Saturday’s UFC London fight card. The event, which takes place on Saturday, March 22 at 02 Arena, features a welterweight main event between former UFC champ Leon Edwards and the rising Sean Brady. The UFC London card marks the first fight for Edwards since he lost his title to Belal Muhammad in July 2024 at UFC 304. Edwards is the No. 1 fighter in the UFC welterweight rankings, while Brady checks in at No. 5. Before we look at the betting breakdown for the UFC London main event, here is some information on Edwards and Brady.

Leon Edwards (22-4-0-1) saw his 13-fight unbeaten streak end in 2024 when Muhammad defeated him via unanimous decision. Edwards held the UFC welterweight title for nearly two years, successfully defending the belt twice before his loss to Muhammad.

Sean Brady (17-1) tasted defeat for the first time in October 2022 when Muhammad knocked him out in the second round. Brady rebounded from that defeat with wins over Kelvin Gastelum and former UFC title challenger Gilbert Burns. His victory over Burns came in September 2024.

UFC London betting breakdown: Leon Edwards

Edwards is a well-rounded fighter who has continued to develop over the years. He is an athlete who is always adding to his toolset, which was evident in his 2023 rematch against the man he took the UFC welterweight title from, Kamaru Usman. In that contest, he showed growth in his work in the clinch and his ability to hinder his opponent’s grappling. Edwards is well-trained and can make in-fight adjustments as needed. Despite coming off his first loss in near years, the ex-champ won’t lack in confidence.

Up until the Muhammad rematch, Edwards was thought to have no exploitable gaps in his game. However, he struggled mightily with Muhammad’s wrestling and ground control. During that fight, Edwards gave up nine takedowns in 15 attempts and Muhammad had 12:02 of control time.

Edwards averages 2.68 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy of 53 percent. He absorbs 2.37 significant strikes per minute with a defense of 53 percent. The ex-champ picks up an average of 1.25 takedowns per 15 minutes and succeeds on 36 percent of his takedown attempts. Edwards has a takedown defense of 65 percent.

UFC London betting breakdown: Sean Brady

Sean Brady is an excellent grappler. While his striking is not nearly up to par with his ground skills, the 32-year-old can handle himself on the feet, but his striking is there to serve his ground game. With that in mind, Brady can sometimes put himself in jeopardy by using ill-advised striking techniques.

Brady needs to avoid staying on the feet with Edwards. His route to victory is to string takedown attempts together and concentrate on getting Edwards to the mat, where he can work his top game. Brady has strong offensive skills from top control, and he is a threat to replicate Muhammad’s game plan against Edwards. In his five-round win over Gilbert Burns, Brady picked up seven takedowns on 17 attempts and earned 10:34 of control time. He has 17 takedowns in his past four fights.

Brady can have some cardio issues, but his wrestling allows him to regain his energy.

Brady lands an average of 4.09 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy of 55 percent. His striking defense is 60 percent, and he gets hit, on average, 3.18 times per minute. Brady succeeds on 52 percent of his takedown attempts and hits 3.49 takedowns per 15 minutes of UFC action. His takedown defense stands at 85 percent.

Best Bets: UFC London main event – Leon Edwards vs. Sean Brady

The question in this fight is whether Leon Edwards learned his lesson from the loss to Belal Muhammad. If he can take control of this fight early and keep the fight standing for the majority of the five rounds, Edwards should get the win. However, Edwards could not do that against Muhammad and it cost him his title. Edwards is still only 33, so he’s not past his prime. He has all the skills needed to get a win over Brady, but his performance against Muhammad was troublesome and makes the pick for this fight difficult. The fact that Edwards is an underdog and represents some value makes things easier. On the other side of the equation, Brady is a real threat thanks to his wrestling and ground control. However, he hasn’t faced a fighter as talented as Edwards since he lost to Muhammad in 2022.

The betting pick is Leon Edwards to beat Sean Brady by decision in the main event of UFC London.
