Brazil barely beat Croatia, drew against Mexico and had to take penalties against in order to advance from the round of 16.
“The team is crying when they’re singing the anthem, when they get hurt, when they shoot penalties! Come on… Stop crying! Enough!” Brazil assistant manager Carlos Alberto Parreira said. “They say it’s the pressure from playing at home. But they should have been prepared for this.
“This shows the team is not 100 per cent ready. When you are prepared to win, everything happens automatically. When you’re not, you cry when the result is not positive.”
Colombia has been outstanding with four wins in four games; their most impressive one came in their last presentation against Uruguay with two scores by James Rodriguez. Colombia thinks they have what it takes to beat Brazil.
“I had no doubt that this would be James’s World Cup,” Jose Pekerman said post-match.
“Neymar is a great player and important for Brazil. But James Rodríguez also is important for us. Brings a lot to the team,” said Colombian defender Carlos Valdes. “This team has grown not only on the field, but mentally too. We are going to face a strong rival and the important thing is to be prepared.”
Colombia is listed +380 to win the game and Brazil is -115, according to the World Cup money line.
