Two of the best countries in World Cup history meet this Tuesday as Germany challenge the host Brazil, at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte at 4 PM ET, for a ticket to the 2014 World Cup final.
Brazil has won three games and drew two; they beat Colombia 2-1 in the quarterfinals but lost two key players for their meeting against Germany. Neymar is out of the tournament due to an injury and Thiago Silva can’t play because of a sanction.
“I said at this time in the competition, I could add a player for the different matches from now onwards,” said Brazil Luiz Felipe Scolari. “All the coaches would like to add someone. They would add because of the characteristics of the next team, but you have 23. We know they would take us to victory, we know they were selected a long time ago.”
Germany beat France 1-0 and looks as the most difficult team to beat in the tournament: the German’s ball movement is outstanding and hard to stop.
“They’re playing more robustly than any other team here,” said Germany coach Joachim Low. “There’s little left of that traditional Brazilian style of football. At the end of the day, it’s up to the referee to come up with the correct punishment.”
Germany is listed +187 to win the game in the World Cup odds and Brazil +180, and the draw is +225. The game total is at 2.5 goals.
