Ever since the Delaware sports betting project was able to get off the ground, there was one key component missing from things. We’re of course talking about the ability to place mobile wagers. This was something lawmakers had been working on for a while, but nothing was able to get done. This had plenty of people quite upset. However, all of that can now be forgotten, as Delaware online sports betting arrived at the right time.
In case you missed it, online betting was officially able to launch in early January and people didn’t waste any time in getting their bets in. While the official numbers are yet to be released, it’s safe to say that things went quite well during the first month. Not only that, but the amazing news was that online betting was on the table for the end of the NFL regular season and for the entirety of the postseason.
On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers played in a close Super Bowl battle, with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs coming away with a thrilling overtime win. It wasn’t easy for Mahomes, as he and the Chiefs were underdogs. However, he was able to find Mecole Hardman in the end zone for the game-winning touchdown late in overtime. He went on to win MVP as well, which wasn’t a surprise at all.
This was the first time ever that people in Delaware were able to take advantage of mobile Super Bowl betting. Previously, bets were only permitted on one of three authorized locations from an in-person standpoint. This was a major hassle and something people kept complaining about. Thankfully, that has all changed and mobile bets are going to be quite popular for the state moving forward. In our opinion, this was a long time coming for Delaware.
Online MLB betting is sure to take off
Looking ahead to this spring, there’s no question that online MLB betting is sure to take off for Delaware. As big as the football campaign is for people in the state, baseball is arguably the favorite sport for local fans. While there’s no pro team in the area for people to enjoy, that doesn’t mean that MLB betting isn’t going to be sky-high from start to finish, with Opening Day all set for late March.
As soon as early April gets here, people are going to be in the full swing of things from a betting standpoint. People in Delaware follow teams in nearby states closely, with the list of course including the New York Yankees. The Yankees were able to make quite the splash this offseason, as they recorded a blockbuster trade with the San Diego Padres to acquire slugger Juan Soto. Expectations are quite high for Soto during Year 1 in the Bronx.

“It significantly upgrades us without a doubt,” GM Brian Cashman said after landing Soto from San Diego. “And the great thing about the ‘crazy 8s’ is that one is right-handed and one is left-handed and so that creates a tougher lineup to navigate for the opposing pitchers… We still have more work to do and we know that, but we are really excited by what this acquisition can do for both balance and impact and certainly excited for the opportunity to bring him here.”

The fact that you could only place a wager at in-person sportsbooks, with only three available options, felt like quite a joke. With nearly 40 states in the USA approving legal betting, the majority have online options set. We’ve seen how high numbers can reach when you have more than just in-person betting available.
This is something that Delaware needed to adapt to. There is nothing better than being able to place a wager from on the go. People love the ability to be on their couch while watching a game and simply have the ability to check the latest odds from their phone or tablet and put money down on a game. Before, this was never allowed in Delaware, but things have changed in the best way possible here. Delaware got online betting across the line and sports fans are thanking their lucky stars for it.
