When it was announced that Florida sports betting would be back in business, you had a feeling that things would be exciting. We saw a high number of bets during the football season, while we’ve also seen be quite electric for the hoops campaign too. With baseball here, a boost is surely on the way. According to a report, Florida has posted more than $120 million for its sports betting revenue already in 2024. That’s an incredible number and one that surely has a lot of people excited. This past weekend alone, we saw some major upsets in the NCAA Tournament.

All in all, Florida’s betting project has seen some amazing early returns and things will only get better in the coming months. The hope is that nothing will happen in the Supreme Court, as people are still waiting to see the results from the appeal that was recently brought up for Florida sports betting.

MLB betting is going to be tremendous for Florida this year
It goes without saying, but MLB betting is going to be tremendous for Florida this year. The first week of the new season has come and gone, with the Rays and Marlins getting things started for local fans to enjoy. Not only that, but the New York Yankees started off the year 4-0 thanks to a series sweep against the Houston Astros. There are plenty of Yankees fans down in Florida and they’ve loved seeing New York play so well.
The Yankees’ success has been in large part thanks to the heroic efforts of Juan Soto. Soto was outstanding against the Astros, recording his first home run with the team, while also showing how solid he can be on defense. Soto recorded the game-winning hit in the series finale. It’s something that fans loved seeing. For the rest of the season, there’s going to be a ton of pressure on Soto and Co. to keep on delivering for this team.
“He didn’t get a ton of results here the last couple of weeks, which I often think with a hitter of his caliber isn’t such a bad thing from a timing standpoint,” Manager Aaron Boone said of Soto ahead of Opening Day. “Every hitter goes through little lulls at different points in the season, so hoping he got that out of the way here, but I think he’s ready to roll. He’s in a great mental state and I can’t wait to watch him go out and tear up the Bronx.”
Thanks to how they looked in Houston the Yankees have already boosted their MLB betting odds to win the title this season. Once Gerrit Cole is able to come off the Injured List too, it’s going to help out this team quite a bit. Boone is hopeful that this team can stay relatively healthy for the rest of the season. If that’s the case, people in Florida will 100 percent keep betting on the Yankees throughout the campaign.

People are still waiting on a Supreme Court ruling in Florida
While there’s been a lot of positive sports betting news, people are still waiting on a Supreme Court ruling in Florida. Unfortunately, things haven’t been announced yet, but the hope is that Florida will be able to continue with betting for the long haul. The owners of the Magic City Casino have been trying to prevent Governor Ron DeSantis and The Seminole Tribe from operating legal betting for a while now, but experts think they have nothing to worry about.
Soon enough, we’ll have a final answer, but the belief is that Florida betting won’t be shut down for the second time. In the fall of 2021, betting was launched and then forced to stop by a U.S. District Judge. Now, the future of Florida sports betting is in the hands of the Supreme Court. DeSantis is feeling confident nothing will change. It will be interesting to see what the final decision will be.
