The more time passes, the more bad news that comes in for California sports betting. Time and time again, people in the state remain hopeful that some good updates might be on the way, but the opposite has been the case. At this point, it’s totally up in the air if things will be given the green light within the next few years. However, what about things on the plate for next year? Don’t count on it, as a betting analyst gives California almost a zero chance for betting in 2024.
Indeed, analyst Bill Speros, who is quite respected in the Las Vegas betting community, ranked the chances of states pushing to get legal betting done in 2024. Speros gave California +100000 betting odds, which is the same as a 0.1 percent chance of it getting done. From the moment people in California saw this, they’ve been quite upset. This makes it seem like it’s almost a lock that legal betting won’t arrive for Cali by 2024 – which would mean people would have to wait until at least 2025.
Things sure looked hopeful in the fall of 2022, as two different betting propositions were on the November ballot. However, the local citizens in the state voted against both, with the two failing. From that moment, it was back to the drawing board for lawmakers and officials. Since then, however, no new bills have been put on the table. This has left people with little to no hope. Speros’ latest comments are only making things look even more grim.
“The Golden State holds the Golden Ticket for the growth of sports betting in the United States,” Speros said. “California is the nation’s most-populous state. But don’t expect sports betting apps to be available there any time soon. A much-publicized, very expensive ballot initiative failed miserably at the polls last November. Mobile betting in California remains a far-off dream for bettors and books alike.”

As things stand, California is losing millions of dollars each football season with no betting. This is a major problem for the state and the betting proponents know what’s being left off the table. With NFL training camps around the corner, we don’t have to tell you that the betting attention would have been through the roof for the state if things were allowed. There are several elite teams in the state, including the San Francisco 49ers.
Right now, the 49ers hold strong NFL betting odds to win the NFC West. From our chair, we think it would be a major surprise if they don’t win the division this year. Not only that, but there’s a great chance that San Francisco can go on a deep run in the postseason. The 49ers are an NFC powerhouse and they’ll be ready to post some big wins in September, but also in January in the playoffs when things really matter.

Yes, the NFL is king, but the college football season is a massive part of the year for fans out there as well. People would love to check the NCAAF betting odds and place legal wagers on Stanford, USC, UCLA and other programs. However, that won’t happen for a while, with 2025 feeling like the most likely time that the laws will change. This is unfortunate for countless people in the state. These laws need to be changed as soon as possible. For now, though, nothing appears to be on the way soon.

They’re in a great spot to not only win the NL West this year, but folks are also fired up over their strong World Series betting odds.
With the Dodgers, Padres and others playing so well in the state, this means that the club’s supporters are going to find ways to get their wagers in.
