Legal Sports Betting in Vermont Officially Launched in January

This is the kind of news that people all over the state had not only been hoping for, but waiting for too. For years, Vermont was hard at work trying to get things across the line with its Vermont sports betting push. It was totally up in the air if it would happen to start in 2024 or not, but luckily for all of the proponents, that’s exactly what was able to get done long ago. That’s right, legal sports betting in Vermont officially launched in January and things have been quite strong thus far.

Things indeed launched on Jan. 11 and it was something that people had been pushing for a while. Before Vermont was able to get the green light, nearly 40 states across the USA had done so. However, that meant that double-digit states still hadn’t gotten things legalized. This was something officials in Vermont had in mind, which is why they went all-in on trying to get things done to start the new year. Luckily, that’s exactly what happened.

While the official numbers haven’t been posted just yet, the numbers over the first five weeks or so have been quite promising. As you might have been able to guess, it’s been revealed that online sports betting is through the roof these days across the state. This is easy to see why, as we’ve seen how much of a difference mobile betting is able to make. People love the convenience of being able to put money down on a team from anywhere on the go – or even from home.

While Vermont isn’t expected to post the kinds of numbers that Ohio, Maryland and New York do on a consistent basis, there’s still plenty of potential for a ton of revenue to be produced. This in turn will be fantastic for officials and lawmakers. Early on in the process, sports betting has been quite superb for Vermont and there’s no signs of things slowing down. It will be interesting to see what the locked in numbers are for January, but we have a feeling they’ll be quite high.

No pro sports teams in Vermont shouldn’t be an issue

One thing to keep in mind here is that no pro sports teams in Vermont shouldn’t be an issue. That’s right, Vermont unfortunately doesn’t have any professional teams, but fans in the area still have a lot of love for the NFL, MLB, NBA and more. The good news for Vermont was that with the Jan. 11 launch, that means that people in the state were able to place bets on the NFL postseason. With that, Super Bowl betting earlier this month was of course sky-high.

The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs ended up facing off with the title on the line and it was a game to remember. In the end, Patrick Mahomes and Co. were able to come out on top in an overtime thriller. Mahomes, who took home his third Super Bowl ring, was named Super Bowl MVP for the third time in his young career. Already looking ahead to next season, the Chiefs hold the best NFL betting odds to win it all again.

Before the Super Bowl arrived, though, people in Vermont were able to bet on every round of the playoffs, which is massive. Unfortunately, nearby teams like the Giants, Jets, Bills, Eagles and Patriots weren’t able to post the kinds of seasons that people would have thought. However, just because the nearby organizations didn’t bring home the Lombardi Trophy, that doesn’t mean that the NFL betting numbers weren’t impressive.

Looking ahead to next fall, the belief is that NFL betting will surely lead the way for Vermont. The great thing here is that people will be able to place wagers from start to finish during the campaign. Not only that, but come late April, NFL Draft betting is sure to be high as well. It feels like a lock that USC quarterback Caleb Williams will end up being the No. 1 overall pick, but you never know, there could be a stunner on the way. Vermont football fans will be ready to bet on the action, no doubt.

MLB betting will be great for Vermont starting in late March

Soon enough, there’s no question MLB betting will be great for Vermont starting in late March. Yes, there’s no pro MLB team, but there are minor league teams in Vermont, which has led to plenty of interest in the pro game. Teams in the Northeast are the ones that provide the most intrigue, of course including the Yankees, Mets, Phillies and more. The Yankees are primed for a big year, especially after trading for Juan Soto.

The Rangers ended up winning the World Series last year, but the Yankees, Dodgers, Astros and other teams are ready to do whatever is needed to prevent them from repeating as the champs. We can’t wait to see how the season pans out, but there’s no question that legal MLB wagers will be incredible for the state. All in all, things are on the rise for Vermont betting.
