New York Set a New Record for Sports Betting Handle in a Week

As you’re probably used to by now, quite literally nothing but good news regarding New York sports betting continues to fly in. Things have been tremendous in the Empire State for a while now, but you just had a feeling that things would be amazing during the football season. Projections have been through the roof and things were only made better earlier this month. That’s because New York set a new record for sports betting handle in a week.

According to a report, New York posted a $445 million total online betting handle from Jan. 8-14. It goes without saying, but that’s an incredible mark and it’s something that lawmakers and officials are celebrating. It’s really no surprise to see such a spike in the numbers, as the Wild Card Round of the postseason arrived. That first weekend of the playoffs, the NFL betting was through the roof throughout New York.

The Buffalo Bills were in action and they were able to take down the Steelers 31-17. The weather in Buffalo was pretty wild, which forced the NFL to postpone the game to Monday instead of the weekend. Even though things were pushed back, that didn’t impact the weekly betting numbers. If anything, it gave Bills fans even more time to check the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, and get their money on the huge game.

With the Bills winning, they moved on to the Divisional Round. Unfortunately for Bills supporters, things didn’t go well for the team in the Divisional Round against the Chiefs, as Kansas City was able to post a close victory. Just like that, the season is over for Buffalo. Having said that, the good news is that the Bills’ showing in the Wild Card Round helped the state make improbable history. Moving forward, more head-turning numbers should be on the way for the state. Including this weekend.

New York will remain hot with NFL betting this month

While the official numbers are yet to be released, there’s no question in our mind that New York will remain hot with NFL betting this month. We’re still waiting for the numbers from last week to come in, but the weekly stats should be impressive. Despite the Bills losing to the Chiefs, countless bets were placed on that big game. The only bummer here, though, is that the Bills are now out of the Super Bowl hunt.

That doesn’t mean that Super Bowl betting is going to take a hit, however, as both the AFC Championship Game and NFC Championship Game will provide fans with unreal matchups. With the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens are getting ready to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. This is a blockbuster contest and people all over the world are getting ready to place their bets on this contest. This 100 percent includes New York, as fans are hoping Baltimore wins.

Why would people in New York be rooting for the Ravens? Well, it’s because the Chiefs have knocked out the Bills in the playoffs too many times in recent years and the rivalry has heated up. You can call it petty, but people in New York are going to bet on Baltimore and pray to the Football Gods that Kansas City doesn’t make it back to the Super Bowl. In Buffalo particularly, folks are sick and tired of watching Patrick Mahomes put on a show with the Lombardi Trophy on the line.

Once the two matchups come and go on Sunday, then everyone’s focus will then turn to the Super Bowl. Countless people will be making their way to Las Vegas for the big game, but the betting numbers will be sky-high in New York as well regardless of who moves on to the big game. It will be interesting to see how things play out here, but again, an unreal amount of wagers will be placed on the Super Bowl and it doesn’t matter which teams will face off.

NBA betting in New York continues to be positive

One thing that also is helping the Empire State is that NBA betting in New York continues to be positive. Whether it be the New York Knicks or the Brooklyn Nets, the popularity for the sports continues to grow and people are loving the young talent that both squads are showcasing this year. The Knicks are solid with their star players on both ends of the floor and the hope here is that they can go on a deep postseason run.

With Madison Square Garden being one of the most iconic stadiums in the USA as well, it’s always going to draw people to not only attend home games, but get NBA bets in beforehand too. With it still being early in the regular season, we have a feeling things will continue to be positive the rest of the way. Then once the postseason gets here, the stats will grow for the state as well. All in all, sports betting is going tremendously for New York. You’ve got to love to see it.
