The optimism for Georgia sports betting news keeps climbing for people in the state, as there are high hopes for things to get done. While betting remains illegal as of this writing, plenty of people are hopeful that things will get across the board in the near future. Could legal wagers be on the table by next year? That’s how things are looking, as sports betting is a serious possibility for Georgia in 2024.
According to a report, there are several different gaming options being considered for this upcoming year, with sports betting at the top of the list. Not only that, but among everything that has been pitched to be legalized in the state, sports betting is considered a ‘favorite’ above everything, which is of course a great sign that things could be moving in the right direction sooner rather than later.
“Georgia, as you can imagine, has politically a lot of issues including the Trump indictment, so there’s a little bit of a distraction at the moment but I feel pretty positive Georgia is going to move (betting) on next year along with a few other states,” Entain Trustee Bill Pascrell said in a recent interview.
That quote from Pascrell tells you that there’s definitely a lot of hope for things to get across the line. Politicians on both sides in Georgia haven’t seen eye to eye on things in the past, but it feels like they’re getting closer to meeting in the middle on this. Sports betting has huge revenue potential in the state, there’s no doubt about that. In the coming months, we should have more answers on the chances of the laws changing in terms of sports betting in Georgia.

With the way things played out over the past few months, there’s no question that Georgia missed out on a ton of MLB bets this season. That’s because the Atlanta Braves were nothing short of sensational this campaign. Unfortunately for all of the Braves fans out there, Atlanta wasn’t able to go on a deep postseason run, as they were eliminated in the NLDS but the Philadelphia Phillies.
With Philly taking down Atlanta in the last round, they’re now the favorites to beat the Diamondbacks in the NLCS and then go on to win the World Series. Both the Rangers and Astros are hoping that they can make a splash later this month too, but a lot of experts think that it will be the Phillies to capture the glory. Back to the Braves, though, they were easily one of the hottest teams in the bigs since April.

Atlanta is loaded with a bunch of young talent, which has people all over the world checking the MLB betting odds for them on a consistent basis. For everyone in Georgia, though, they weren’t able to place any legal bets on the NL East powerhouse because of the laws that are in place over there. Plenty of illegal bets were recorded, which of course is a major disappointment for officials.
Come next year, people in Georgia very well might be able to check the best-rated sportsbooks, including the reliable Bovada review, to see Atlanta odds and place wagers. With Ronald Acuna Jr., Austin Riley and others set to be motivated to bounce back in a big way in ’24, it could be a year to remember for the Braves and their players. With that said, legal betting in Georgia would make things even better for baseball fans in the state.

It goes without saying, but football betting can’t come any sooner for Georgia fans. Starting with the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons are in the middle of a rebuild, but they have a lot of exciting young pieces. The talented roster includes Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts and more. Because of the bright future the Falcons have, people are quite upset that they can’t bet on the NFC South team right now in Georgia. Come next year, though? Things could change.
As for the NCAA, we obviously have to bring up the Georgia Bulldogs, as Kirby Smart continues to do some amazing things with that program. The Bulldogs not only churn out countless NFL talent, but they have also won the National Championship in back-to-back seasons. Georgia is currently the No. 1 team in the country and they have what it takes to three-peat, which would be a monster accomplishment.
All in all, with so much talent both at the professional level and the college game as well, Georgia will see plenty of benefits from football betting once things get done. Legislators need to realize how giant the potential is here. If things indeed get done in 2024, we should see some impressive numbers from start to finish for Georgia. Things are looking good here, but we won’t know anything for sure for a little while. Keep your fingers crossed, Georgia citizens.
