While these numbers would be a dream for other states, this indeed was a drop. From June to July, things were reduced by 17 percent. That’s not what lawmakers and officials were hoping to see, but the fact of the matter is that things were expected to plateau at some point.
The good news for New York is that the spring and summer can typically be a bit dry for the sports betting industry. This is because there’s no football going on for bettors to take advantage of other than the NFL Draft which comes and goes in late April. With New York, there’s going to be a lot of baseball betting, but things have been far from perfect for both the Mets and Yankees.

As for the Giants, there are high expectations for this team now that Daniel Jones has signed his $160 million extension with the team. Not only that, but Saquon Barkley signed a revised franchise tag, and the team traded for Darren Waller. While no one thinks that Big Blue will be able to take down the Eagles for the NFC East title, the Giants should be in a good spot to get back to the playoffs.
Add in the fact that the Bills hold strong Super Bowl betting odds and it’s easy to see why the numbers should be electric for New York in the coming months. NFL betting will be high in the state moving forward from start to finish this campaign. As soon as the Jets, Giants and Bills take the field, you can expect a lot of wagers to be placed.
