Ohio Posted Its Second-Best Sports Betting Month in November

It’s only fitting that the Ohio sports betting numbers to close out 2023 were through the roof. In January of last year, things officially launched for the state and people across the state sprinted to get their bets in. For the rest of the year, the numbers were high and lawmakers were loving every minute of it. Well, they’re only going to feel better knowing that Ohio posted its second-best sports betting month in November.

According to a report, Ohio recorded a total of $864 million for its sports betting handle. This is an incredible number and it was one of the highest across the board in the United States. While New York is running away with things in terms of being No. 1 for the handle on a month-to-month basis, no one can sneeze at the fact that Ohio continues to post incredible results on a consistent basis.

It’s no surprise at all that November was such a grand month for the state, as both the college football season and the NFL were in full swing. We’re still waiting on the final results for December, but something tells us that the figures will be quite high then too. Then for January, we also think that the stats are going to be strong too, as the College Football Playoff and the postseason in the NFL will be taking center stage.

Then once the spring gets here, the MLB betting will be fantastic too. The Cincinnati Reds are a team with a lot of young talent, while the Cleveland Guardians are poised to make a ton of noise in the AL Central too. There’s a good chance the Guardians could push for the division title. Having said all of that, Ohio has been tremendous with its sports betting and more of the same is going to be on the way in the coming months.

Cleveland Browns betting should be strong for the NFL postseason

In the coming weeks, there’s no question that Cleveland Browns betting should be strong for the NFL postseason. Before the campaign got started, the expectation for Ohio was that the Cincinnati Bengals would be dominating the attention of the state in terms of betting. However, quarterback Joe Burrow went down with a season-ending injury and the team has already been eliminated from postseason contention.

That’s a major bummer for people in the state, however, they’ll now be focused on seeing what the Browns are going to be able to do in the AFC. Entering the season finale against the Bengals on Sunday, Cleveland is an impressive 11-5 on the year and they’re hoping to post win No. 12 on the year this weekend. Will they be able to get the job done and take down Cincy in the process?

Joe Flacco has been superb for this team, taking over for the injured Deshaun Watson. Watson is one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL, but his shoulder injury forced the team to shut him down for the rest of the season. They signed Flacco off his couch and he has been exceptional in leading out the offense. While Flacco and the other starters will rest this weekend, Cleveland is going to be a team to watch over the next month.

Thanks to Flacco, plus the stellar defense, the Browns have decent NFL betting odds to make a lot of noise in the postseason. People all over Ohio will be tuning in to see how they fare once the Wild Card Round gets here. While other teams have better Super Bowl betting odds, don’t count out this team. From a betting standpoint, the numbers for Cleveland should be strong until the campaign comes to a close.

Online betting continues to be spectacular for Ohio

What makes things even better for the state is that online betting continues to be spectacular for Ohio, which is something that a lot of people saw coming. While in-person betting is quite popular, online wagers are always going to be king for the state. Matter of fact, it’s safe to say that’s going to be the case for every state that has legalized betting. Delaware is still fighting to get online wagers done, as their betting handle is typically pretty low each month.

This isn’t a concern at all for Ohio, as they’re posting incredible numbers. People love being able to place a bet from the comfort of their own home, or if they’re out on the go. With online options and sportsbooks, you could literally drop money on your favorite team from any place you have your phone on you. This is a major sell for people who enjoy sports betting on a daily basis.

As great as the first year was for Ohio, something tells us that 2024 could potentially be even better for the state. With 2023 in the books, the state got its feet wet with sports betting and now they know what it’s going to take to have the numbers be even stronger in the future. Yes, 2023 was amazing, but don’t be surprised to see ’24 be even greater.
