Fnatic

If there’s a team that will have an overwhelming amount of confidence heading into the 2023 Valorant Champions tournament, that team is Fnatic. The UK squad has been excellent this year. They won the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN Sao Paulo event in March and followed that with a runner-up performance at the May VCT: EMEA League event. The team recently took home $350,000 in prize money after winning the VCT 2023: Masters Tokyo tournament.

Fnatic will have the same roster for this event as for the previous 2023 tournaments. The UK club went 9-0 during regular season play. Fnatic is part of Group C with ZETA Division, NRG, and Bilibili Gaming. They open the tournament against ZETA. The team finished in 5th-6th in the 2022 version of this event.

Paper Rex

After a disappointing 9th-10th place finish at the 2022 Valorant Champions tourney, Paper Rex, who play out of Singapore, looks to improve in this year’s competition. The team won at the Valorant India Invitational in late 2022, then moved on to win the VCT 2023: Pacific League tournament. In June, the Pacific team finished in third place at the Masters Tokyo tournament, losing to Evil Geniuses 3-2 in the lower bracket final of that event. The club was 7-2 during the 2023 Pacific Valorant season.

One thing to keep in mind about Paper Rex is that team used a sub at the Masters Tokyo event for “something,” who was unable to play because of visa issues. “something” will be on the roster in Los Angeles.

Paper Rex are part of Group A along with KRU Esports, EDward Gaming, and Giants. They face KRU in the opening round.

Evil Geniuses

Representing the Americas, Evil Geniuses are participating in the Valorant Champions tournament for the first time. If you’re looking for an underdog team who could overachieve, the best bet is Evil Geniuses. The team had a regular season record of 4-5 and finished the LOCK//IN event in 9th-16th place. The club bounced back in the Americas League tourney, finishing in third place. They then improved on that finish at the much more competitive Masters Tokyo event, where Evil Geniuses finished in the runner-up spot, beating LOUD, Team Liquid, and Paper Rex in the playoffs. On the downside, Evil Geniuses lost to Fnatic 2-1 in the upper bracket final and then 3-0 to the same team in the Grand Final.

Evil Geniuses are part of Group B at the 2023 Valorant Champions event. Also in that group are FunPlus Phoenix, FUT Esports, and T1. They open the stage with a matchup opposite FunPlus Phoenix.

Best bet to win Valorant Champions 2023

Fnatic is beatable, but the team is red hot coming into the Valorant Champions 2023 event in Los Angeles. Any team that beats them will have to play a nearly perfect game. That’s not out of the question, but because they have played so well together throughout this year, Fnatic are the betting favorite and the betting pick to win the 2023 Valorant Champions event.
