Pain Gaming

Playing out of Brazil, Pain Gaming are the No. 22 team in the Counter-Strike 2 Teams Rankings. Pain Gaming made it through the opening stage of the recent PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, but the squad fell short of making it out of the elimination stage of that event, winning two matches but losing three. The team picked up a win over the higher-ranked Heroic in that stage of play. Ultimately, Pain Gaming finished the event in 9th-11th place, winning $20,000.

The roster Pain Gaming is competing with is relatively new. Three of the players lux, kauez, and nqz joined the team in the second half of 2023. The more veteran players on the club, rikz and biguzera, have been with Pain Gaming since 2021 and 2019, respectively.

Pain Gaming opens the Upper Bracket quarterfinals against Monte.

FURIA

Furia Esports, who play out of Brazil, check in at No. 11 in the Counter-Strike 2 Teams Rankings. The club had one big win in 2023, picking up first place in the Elisa Masters Espoo 2023 event and winning $100,000. The team will compete in this event with the same roster it had for that win. The current team line-up has been playing together since July 2023, with the majority of the club working together since 2018.

Furia made it through the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 opening stage with a 3-2 match record and a round record of 100-75. However, the team did not get any momentum in the elimination round, and they fell out of the tournament by going 3-0 during elimination play. The club finished the event in 15th-16th place and earned $20,000.

Furia Esports opens the Upper Bracket quarterfinals against 9z.

Imperial

Imperial Esports are the No. 23 ranked Counter-Strike 2 team in the world. The team plays out of Brazil, and like Pain Gaming and Furia Esports, they made it out of the opening stage of the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 event with a 3-2 record. However, the Brazilian squad could not put together the play to get them out of the Elimination Stage where they went 1-3, with their only win coming against Inferno. Imperial finished the Copenhagen event in 12th-14th place and took home $20,000.

Imperial Esports have not been playing together that long. The team’s current roster is made up of five players who joined the club in 2023. The team’s most veteran member is VINI, who has been with the squad since February 2022.

Imperial Esports opens the Upper Bracket quarterfinals against Metizport.

Best bet to win Global Esports Rio de Janeiro 2024 CS2

The three betting favorites in this tournament are fairly evenly matched, which should make for a tough event. However, the betting pick to win the Global Esports Rio de Janeiro 2024 Counter-Strike 2 event is Furia Esports. I believe the amount of time they have played as a unit will factor into the outcome of the tournament.
