The 2024 Winter season of the League of Legends EMEA Championship, or LEC, begins on January 13, 2024, and runs through February 18. The event features 10 League of Legends teams from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Those teams are: G2 Esports, Fnatic, Team Heretics, Karmine Corp, Team Vitality, Rogue, SK Gaming, Team BDS, GIANTX, and MAD Lions The winner of the 2024 LEC Winter event is eligible to compete in the mid-season League Of Legends invitational and picks up a spot in the 2024 LEC Finals. In 2023, G2 was the winning team in the LEC Winter event. MAD Lions came in second.
The total prize pool for this year’s LEC Winter 2024 event is €80,000. The winning team takes home €40,000, and the runner-up earns €25,000. The third-place squad pockets €10,000, while the team finishing in fourth gets €50,000.
The 2024 LEC Winter Split is divided into a Regular Season Group Stage and a Bracket Stage. The top eight teams from the Group Stage move on to the Bracket Stage. The regular season format is three best-of-one matches per week. The Bracket Stage is double-elimination.

G2 Esports
The betting favorites to win this event, G2 Esports, play out of Europe. G2 Esports had a good year in 2023 in LEC events, finishing first in the Winter, Summer, and Season Finals tournaments. However, the club struggled in bigger events. They placed 5th-6th in the Mid-Season Invitational and 9th-11th in the 2023 World Championship. Two members of G2 picked up awards at the 2023 LEC Season Finals in August and September 2023. Those players were Mikyx, who won MVP of the Year, and Yike, who picked up Rookie of the Year. The current lineup of G2 has been playing as a unit since late 2022.

Fnatic
Like the betting favorites, G2 Esports, Fnatic play out of Europe. Fnatic struggled early in 2023, placing ninth in the LEC Winter event and 8th in the Spring. However, the team picked up third place in the LEC Summer tournament and finished as the runner-up to G2 Esports in the 2023 LEC Season Finals. The squad placed 9th-11th in the 2023 LOL World Championship.
Fnatic picked up three new players during 2023, Oscarinin, Noah, and Jun. If the team has had time to gel and work together since the World Championship, Fnatic could give G2 a problem this year in the LEC Winter event.

Team Heretics
Team Heretics is one of the three betting favorites to win the 2024 LEC Winter Split. The squad plays out of Spain and finished in eighth place in this event in 2023. They followed that with a ninth-place finish in the Spring event and then improved to fourth place in the Summer of 2033. The club made many changes in 2023, with most of the active roster joining throughout the year. The three most recent signings for the European club, Wunder, Perkz, and Kaiser, all joined in December 2023. The oddsmakers must like what they see of this team as they are in the pre-event running to earn a victory.
