The 2024 Spring Split of the League of Legends League LPL begins on January 24, 2024, and runs through April 15. The event features 17 League of Legends teams from China. Those teams are: JD Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, LNG Esports, Top Esports, Ninjas In Pyjamas, Weibo Gaming, Edward Gaming, Royal Never Give Up, Team WE, Oh My God, Anyone’s Legend, ThunderTalk Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, Invictus Gaming, Rare Atom, Ultra Prime, and LGD Gaming. JD Gaming took home the LPL Spring 2023 title, earning $291,167.56 for that win. Bilibili Gaming finished as the runner-up in that tournament.
The winner of the LPL Spring 2024 event takes home $281,710.10, while the second-place squad pockets $140,855.05 of the $591,591 total prize pool. The top two teams also qualify for the Mid-Season Invitational 2024, which takes place between May 1 and May 19 in Chengdu, China.

JD Gaming
JD Gaming had an outstanding year in 2023. The team finished first in the Spring Split, Mid-Season Invitational, and Summer Split before wrapping up the year by placing 3rd-4th at the 2023 World Championship. The squad earned nearly $800,000 for those tournament finishes. The downside of the year was that JD Gaming did not improve on their 2022 World Championship finish. They also placed 3rd-4th in that event. T1, who play out of Korea, knocked them out of the World Championships in both years.
The team is coming off a runner-up finish at the recent Demacia Cup where they lost to Bilibili Gaming (3-0) in the Grand Final.
Bilibili Gaming
2023 was an excellent year for Bilibili Gaming. The team finished as the runner-up in the Spring Split and the Mid-Season Invitational before placing third in the Summer Split. Bilibili finished the year with a 3rd-4th place at the World Championship. The team who defeated them in the Spring, Summer, and Mid-Season events was JD Gaming.
However, in the most recent matchup between the two squads, which took place at the Demacia Cup, Bilibili Gaming picked up a win over JD Gaming. One of the players who helped Bilibili defeat JD was knight, who left JD Gaming for Bilibili Gaming in December 2023. That pick-up could help Bilibili Gaming in this event, as knight was named Finals MVP of that event, Demacia Cup 2023.
LNG Esports
Like the two betting favorites to win the LPL Spring 2024 Split, LNG Esports had a strong showing in 2023. The team had a 5th-6th place finish in the Spring Split, secured the runner-up spot in the Summer Split, won the LPL Regional Finals, and then placed 5th-8th at the World Championship, where T1 knocked them out of the event in the quarterfinals, beating them 5-0.
LNG Esports did not have their best showing at the recent Demacia Cup. The team was defeated 3-1 in the quarterfinal round by Rare Atom, who were then shut out (3-0) by JD Gaming in the semifinal round of that event.
Scout, who remains on the LNG Esports roster, picked up several awards during the LPL Summer 2023 session, including Group Stage MVP.
