Sixteen of the top Counter-Strike 2 teams in the world are in Dallas, Texas, this week for the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Dallas 2024 tournament. The prize pool for the event is $250,000, with the winning team taking home $100,000 along with 1,400 BLAST Premier points and a spot in the upcoming IEM Cologne 2024 event, which takes place in August. That tournament features a $1 million prize pool. The winner of IEM Cologne 2024 pockets $400,000 and 3,000 BLAST Premier points, as well as a spot in the IEM Katowice 2025 event. In 2023 ENCE won the IEM Dallas event, beating MOUZ 2-0 in the Grand Final.
The IEM Dallas 2024 tournament features two stages. The Group Stage consists of two double-elimination groups of eight teams each. The opening matches are best-of-one, and the following matchups are best-of-three. The Playoff Stage follows the Group Stage. The top three teams from each group make the playoffs, which are a single-elimination bracket format with best-of-three matches.

FaZe Clan
It wasn’t that long ago that FaZe Clan was the top-ranked CS:GO team in the world. The team, which plays out of Europe, is currently in the No. 2 spot in those rankings. The team has slipped a bit in 2024 because they have “only” won one event this year, taking first place at the Intel Extreme Masters Chengdu 2024 tournament in April, where they defeated MOUZ in the Grand Final 2-0. In the tournament that preceded that one, PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, FaZe Clan finished in second to Natus Vincere. In their most recent outing, FaZe Clan finished in 5th-8th place at the ESL Pro League 19 event.
FaZe Clan placed 3rd-4th in the 2023 version of the IEM Dallas event.
They open IEM Dallas 2024 in Group B against M80.
Team Spirit
Currently the No. 6 ranked CS:GO team, Team Spirit had an enormous win in February when they defied the betting odds to win the IEM Katowice 2024 tournament, picking up $400,000, several qualifying spots, and 3,000 Blast Premier points. The team had betting odds of +750 in that event. They defeated one of the betting favorites (+300) FaZe Clan, in the Grand Final of the event. Team Spirit finished in 5th-8th at the PGL Major Copenhagen. In their most recent tournament outing, Team Spirit finished as the runner-up in the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade event, where they lost to MOUZ in the Grand Final.

The club also had a good finish at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024, placing 3rd-4th. They have picked up $637,000 in prize money in 2024.
