The 2024 Spring Split of the League of Legends League Championship Series 2024 Spring, or LCS, begins on January 20, 2024, and runs through February 18. The event features eight League of Legends teams from North America. Those teams are: Cloud9, NRG, Team Liquid, FlyQuest, 100 Thieves, Dignitas, Immortals, and Shopify Rebellion. NRG took home the LCS Summer 2023 title, earning $200,000 for that win. Cloud 9 finished as the runner-up in that tournament.
The winner of the LCS Spring 2024 event takes home $100,000, while the second-place squad pockets $50,000 of the $200,000 total prize pool. The top two teams also qualify for the Mid-Season Invitational 2024, which takes place between May 1 and May 19 in Chengdu, China.

Cloud9
The overwhelming favorite to win the 2024 LCS Spring Split, Cloud9, had a good showing in 2023. The team, which is based out of the United States, finished in first place in the LCS Spring 2023 event and placed second in the Summer 2023 Split. However, Cloud9 did not fare all that well at the 2023 World Championships, where they failed to make it out of the Swiss Stage, going 1-3. The team’s only win during that stage came against MAD Lions, who compete out of Europe. Cloud9 finished in 12th-14th place at the World Championships, earning $61,187.50 in prize money.
Cloud9 made some changes late in 2023, adding Vulcan, Berserker, and Jojopyun to the roster. Fudge and Blaber are the two team members who played with the squad earlier in 2023.
Cloud9 opens the LCS Spring Split with a tough draw. They face the team that downed them in the Summer 2023 Split, NRG, on January 20. On January 21 Cloud9 matches up against 100 Thieves.
NRG
NRG, who compete out of the United States, was the only North American team to make it to the knockout stage of the 2023 World Championship. The squad were swept in the quarterfinal round of that event by eventual runner-up Weibo Gaming from China. NRG’s 5th-8th place finish in the event earned the team $100,125 in prize money. The club’s finish in the World Championship followed a win at the 2023 LCS Summer Split.
All but one of the players who competed at the 2023 World Championship remain on the NRG roster for the 2024 Spring Split. The newest member of the team is huhi, who joined in December.
NRG faces Cloud9 in the opening game of the Spring Split. On Sunday, the team faces Dignitas.
Team Liquid
Team Liquid had a poor showing at the 2023 Spring Split, where they finished in eighth place. However, the United States team rebounded in the Summer split, placing third and qualifying for the World Championship. The club had a rough go of things at the 2023 Worlds, where they went 0-3 in the Swiss Stage, falling to T1 (0-1), NRG (0-1), and GAM Esports (1-2). The club earned $50,062.50 for their appearance in that event.
Team Liquid has picked up two new players since the 2023 Worlds, adding Impact and UmTi to their roster in late November. The other three members of the squad were on the team for the World Championship.
Team Liquid’s first game at the 2023 LCS Spring Split is against 100 Thieves. Their second matchup is vs. Shopify Rebellion.

The winner of this event could be determined in one of the opening matchups as the two favorites, Cloud9 and NRG face off on the first day of the 2024 LCS Spring Split. That game will be the most telling of the early days of the tournament.
