Online Sports Betting Could Arrive in Delaware By December

In terms of Delaware sports betting news, everyone has been waiting to see when online options would be made legal for people to take advantage of. While there was hope that things would have arrived by now, that hasn’t been the case. However, the amazing news is that the wait is almost over. That’s because online sports betting could arrive in Delaware by December and this is something that sports fans are fired up about.

According to a report, the hope is that online betting will be put in place by either late December or early January. Regardless, it looks like things will be finalized in time for the start of the NFL postseason, which would of course be fantastic for the state. With contracts still being worked on, it really does feel like the long wait should be ending soon for people. In a recent interview, Director of Delaware Lottery Helene Kelley said the state also wants to be careful with things.

“We don’t want someone to bet their house, or bet their kids’ college fund on an Eagles game or a Ravens game,” Keeley said. “We know many people who visit Delaware or live in Delaware understand that this is a game and it’s to play and have fun. Some people may choose to go to a movie, some people may choose to go see a band, somebody may choose to go to the casino. They may have their buddies around at a game and place a couple bets.”

Keeley brings up a solid point, as the last thing that government officials want to see is people develop gambling problems with the laws being changed. Right now, people can only place sports wagers at in-person locations, but it looks like everything is going to change soon. Soon enough, online bets will be allowed in Delaware and there’s no doubt in our mind that it will prove to be a major success.

Online NFL betting will be massive for Delaware

When looking at the grand scheme of things, it feels like a lock that online NFL betting will be massive for Delaware. Despite there being no pro team in the state, football fans in the area have a high interest in both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Baltimore Ravens. Both these teams are coming off big-time wins over the weekend and the Super Bowl betting buzz is growing for the two sides.

Starting with the Eagles, Jalen Hurts and Co. have been dominant. In Week 6, they suffered a surprising loss against the Jets, but they were able to bounce back with a huge Sunday Night Football victory over the Dolphins. In that game, AJ Brown was a beast catching the ball from Hurts. Brown has looked like one of the best wideouts in the league this year, which has been fantastic to see.

As for the Ravens, Lamar Jackson looked like an MVP candidate on Sunday in the win over the Lions. Jackson could do no wrong against Detroit, with tight end Mark Andrews also playing well. Let’s not forget about Gus Edwards. The running back had a two-yard touchdown run, but his day was highlighted by an 80-yard reception. It came on a broken play, but Edward nearly took this one all the way.

With these two teams playing so well, you can expect them to not only reach the playoffs, but also have strong NFL betting odds to reach the Super Bowl. If these two teams meet in the big game, people all over Delaware would absolutely love it. With online betting expected to arrive by January at the latest too, this means folks should be able to place online wagers by the time the Super Bowl arrives in February.

Delaware is missing out on online MLB bets this fall

In a bit of a negative, though, it’s unfortunate that Delaware is missing out on online MLB bets this fall. Originally, a lot of baseball fans were hopeful that online options would be available by the end of the summer. With this, people would have been able to place mobile wagers for the end of the regular season, plus the playoffs. The postseason has been quite dramatic.

As you know, that didn’t happen and with the World Series right around the corner, baseball supporters will only be able to place in-person bets on the Fall Classic. Right now, the Phillies hold the best World Series betting odds and people in Delaware are dreaming of them winning it all.

Similar to the NFL, there’s no pro MLB team in Delaware, but people all over the state have a ton of love for the Phillies. With Bryce Harper playing so well, it could be a year to remember for the NL East side. With that said, if people want to bet on the Phillies to capture the glory, they’ll have to do so at an in-person sportsbook. The online wagers on MLB action will have to wait until next season.
