Founded in 1997, Unibet is one of the veterans of the online gaming industry. Its parent company was originally called Unibet Group Plc before rebranding as the Kindred Group in 2016. Unibet launched its first online sportsbook in 1999 and introduced mobile betting a few years later.
A pioneer in live betting since 2003, Unibet has complemented its sports wagering operations with a strong presence in the online casino sector. Together with the Kindred Group’s other brands, Unibet offers a wide portfolio of digital and land-based gaming experiences worldwide.
Once the legalization of sports betting in the United States became official in 2018, Unibet expanded its presence by entering regulated markets such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The company pursued partnerships with local sports teams and casinos to gain visibility, though it never achieved the scale of leading U.S. operators. As of 2025, Unibet no longer operates in the United States, having fully exited the market in 2024.
Unibet’s parent company, originally founded in Malta, operated as the publicly traded Kindred Group until it was acquired by FDJ in 2024. Globally, Unibet serves millions of customers across more than 100 countries, though the majority of its user base is outside the United States.
States Where Unibet Sportsbook Offers Retail Betting
Back in 2018, the U.S. federal government amended their gambling laws and gave each individual state the power to legalize sports betting if they so choose. Since then, more than half of the 50 states—in addition to Washington, D.C.—have given the green light. However, Unibet is not available to U.S. bettors, having exited the market in 2024.
Given that Unibet’s parent company is based in Malta, the brand was slower to expand into physical North American sports betting markets. While it did gain some traction in New Jersey and Pennsylvania following legalization in 2018, Unibet ultimately ceased all U.S. operations in 2024 and is no longer available to American bettors.
Unibet Mobile Betting per US State
As mentioned above, Unibet has ceased its operations in the United States. Previously, it offered sports betting services in several states, including Arizona, Indiana, Iowa, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Unibet Sportsbook Features
Unibet offers a wide range of sports and competitions globally, covering all major leagues and events. However, it is no longer available in the United States, having exited the American market in 2024. Internationally, Unibet continues to provide betting lines on popular sports such as football, basketball, hockey, baseball, soccer, tennis, and esports, much like the other best online sportsbooks in the business. The Unibet desktop sportsbook has historically been fairly functional, though its design leaned heavily on complementing the mobile app. The left-hand menu listing available sports was somewhat limited in size, but once inside each section, games, futures, props, and live betting lines were much easier to navigate.
Unibet also featured a section highlighting events and competitions starting within the next hour, which proved useful for spur-of-the-moment bettors. The sign-up process was generally quick, and the dedicated promotions page offered a clear overview of available bonuses.
That said, the desktop site itself lacked personality—its basic, minimalist design would have benefitted from more engaging content or a dedicated blog. Remember, however, that Unibet exited the U.S. market in 2024, so these features are no longer available to American users.
Unibet Mobile Betting
The Unibet mobile betting experience was generally free from wrinkles. Unlike the desktop site, layout issues were minimal, with the green-and-white color scheme for betting lines remaining clear and most of the screen dedicated to both the odds and the event in question.
All the same categories available on the desktop site carried over to the mobile app. More conveniently, users were taken directly to the page of upcoming betting lines for their preferred competition after logging in—for example, if UFC was your most popular action, the app would intuit that and open to that page.
The mobile app also featured a robust live betting section, aptly labeled “Happening Now.” Betting lines were clearly demarcated, and any updates to odds were highlighted in yellow. While reviews in the Google and Apple app stores were mixed, most of the complaints appeared tied to the casino side rather than the sportsbook. That said, Unibet exited the U.S. market in 2024, so this mobile app is no longer available to American users.
Unibet Customer Service
Where some sportsbooks fail to clearly outline customer service availability, Unibet has traditionally made its support options easy to find. The “Support” page directs users to an extensive FAQ section, and a chat icon at the bottom of the screen allows access to an automated bot or live help. Phone support has also been available between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. EST, seven days a week. These services remain active in Unibet’s international markets, but the brand exited the United States in 2024 and is no longer available to American users.
