Just when you thought Georgia sports betting could be launched in 2023, the plans were nixed and people were quite furious about it. Georgia has made plenty of attempts in recent years to get things over the line, with no success. It felt like by the fall the wheels would be in motion, but once again, nothing got done. However, should proponents be optimistic for next year? We think so, as the latest reports state that Georgia lawmakers are ready to go all in for 2024 sports betting.

This isn’t a surprise at all, as politicians in the state know how valuable this project could be. We have seen some amazing numbers posted for states in recent months and things are only going to keep on growing now that the NFL and NCAA football is back. This is something that officials in Georgia are fully aware of, which is why they’re quite disappointed that another new season will be recorded without people in the state able to place legal wagers.

To no surprise, the illegal activity has remained consistent, which could be wiped away once the right measures are taken and addressed. A big issue here for Georgia has been that the right sports betting bill hasn’t been produced to get everyone on the same page. This is a similar kind of issue that we’ve seen in Texas, with Republicans and Democrats continuing to be split on everything.

Georgia needs to get ahead of the curve here and come up with a plan that will make everyone happy. Sports betting has monster potential, as Atlanta features major NFL, NBA, MLB and MLS teams. There’s a huge following for those teams and also the college squads as well. Only time will tell if historic news will come for Georgia in ’24 and people will be able to place football bets at this point next year, but there’s certainly buzz there.

It goes without saying, but the Falcons hot start would have been great for NFL betting in Georgia. Through the first two weeks of the young NFL campaign, Atlanta is a perfect 2-0. In Week 1, the Falcons were able to take down the Carolina Panthers in a pretty convincing fashion. Then this past weekend, the Panthers were able to record an impressive come-from-behind win against Jordan Love and the Packers.

With the early excitement for the Falcons, people all over the country are checking the NFL betting odds to see how they’re shaping out ahead of Sunday. Unfortunately for people in Georgia, they’re not able to place legal bets on the local team. Throughout September, the excitement surrounding this young team is going to be sky-high. There are a lot of young pieces for the Falcons too.

If betting arrives by next year, people aren’t going to waste any time in putting their money down on the NFC South side. It’s not just them, though, that people will pay close attention to betting wise. People love checking the Super Bowl betting odds. This year, the Kansas City Chiefs remain the team with the best odds to win it all. They won the title last year and Patrick Mahomes is ready to try and bring home ring No. 3.

For the rest of the season, nearby states in Georgia are going to see a lot of betting revenue recorded. This is something that the state continues to miss out on, which is rough. No one knows how things are going to go down for Georgia in 2024, but the fact that there appears to be some urgency here is a positive. People in Georgia are starting to believe that major updates could be coming as soon as this spring.

Outside of football, there’s no question that Braves bets are missed right now as well for Georgia. Atlanta has been the hottest team in the bigs for a while this season and they have dreams of winning the World Series this fall. Right now, the Braves hold the top World Series betting odds and a lot of people think it will come down to either them or the Los Angeles Dodgers. Who will come out on top? If these two teams meet in the NLCS, then people all over the country will surely be betting big on it.

We can’t wait to find out, but there’s no denying that MLB betting would be monstrous for Georgia right now. Yes, people are upset about the state missing out on football wagers, but baseball would be sensational too. The Braves have an unreal amount of talent, of course led by the amazing play of Ronald Acuña Jr. The slugger is in the race to win NL MVP and we have a feeling he’s going to come out on top. People in Georgia would love to bet on him to win MVP, but that’s not an option, which sucks.
