Is this the kind of Georgia sports betting news that could help things get over the top? It’s tough to say. After previously filing a sports betting bill, things were able to move smoothly for the state at the Senate level. Things reached a new point there, providing some optimism. However, the following steps had been delayed, causing some people to panic. Those worries are gone, though, as a Georgia sports betting bill was finally discussed at the State House.
According to a report, things indeed were brought up at a House meeting, with politicians speaking in favor of the proposed bill. This felt like an important step, but it’s important to remember that no action was taken. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it shows that people in the House want more time to discuss things and also take a look at the different items that are being proposed in the bill. Obviously, sports betting is at the forefront.
With this news bill, mobile betting would be featured and more than 15 sports betting licenses would be given out. Here’s the kicker, the tax for sports betting in the state would be 20 percent. This is a massive number and one that would provide Georgia with plenty of tax revenue. This is something that a lot of people are keeping in mind, of course including the Georgia governor. Will it be enough for folks to get on the same page?
That’s hard to say and it feels like this project could go either way right now. While some people are feeling hopeful about sports betting getting legalized by the end of the year, others think it could be delayed to 2025 or 2026. This has been an uphill battle for quite some time and no one knows how things are going to play out. The conversations at the State House are great to see, but until action is taken, fans should hold off on getting too excited.

Unfortunately for Braves supporters, legal sports betting before the end of the MLB season is unlikely. This, of course, is a major bummer. Why? Well, the Atlanta Braves have one of the top MLB betting odds to win the World Series this year. This was also the case last season. Despite Atlanta not getting the job done, that doesn’t take away from the fact that it was an incredible season for them from start to finish.
In particular, star slugger Ronald Acuña Jr. was nothing short of sensational, taking home NL MVP honors. This was amazing for the youngster, especially after he missed the season when the Braves won the World Series due to his torn ACL. Now, he and the Braves have their sets on getting back to the Fall Classic and they have an incredible chance of doing so. In addition to Acuña, Matt Olson, Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley and others are ready for huge seasons.
While the Dodgers might have the best World Series betting odds before the start of the campaign gets here, there’s no question that Atlanta is going to be a team to watch until October gets here. With some of the changes they made during the offseason too, it really feels like this team will be able to live up to the hype. The Braves are focused on another NL East title, but they have so much more in mind too. It feels like it’s World Series or bust for the squad.
As we mentioned above, Opening Day is around the corner and the buzz surrounding this team through spring training has been incredible. The Braves are ready to play with a ton of swagger and showcase to the world that they should be taken seriously. It will be quite interesting to see how everything goes for the NL powerhouse this year, but the rough news for fans is that we don’t expect legal betting to be an option for them this season. Hey, maybe next year.

When will a Georgia 2024 sports betting decision be made?
With everything that’s going on, people continue to wonder when will a Georgia 2024 sports betting decision be made. We wish we had an answer for you, but things are pretty fluid right now. However, if action takes place soon in the State House, then the next steps will be taken. However, if only conversations continue and nothing is done, then it could be months before things are able to progress. This is not what people in Georgia want to hear, but this is the hand they’ve been dealt.
From our chair, we think the State House could see steps taken soon. After that, the hope is that further changes can be made by the early summer. If everyone can get on the same page by mid-summer, then you never know, perhaps mobile betting can get launched by either November or December. It’s not out of the question that everything is put on the table by the end of the year. We’ll have to wait and see how things go down, but all hope is not lost, that’s for sure.
