Latest Georgia Sports Betting Bill Has Failed

This is the last thing Georgia sports betting proponents were hoping to see this month. For a while now, there’s been a ton of hard work that’s been recorded to try and get things legalized for the state. However, time and time again, things have fallen by the wayside. That’s once again the case, as the latest Georgia sports betting bill has failed. This is a major step backward for the betting push and it’s one that has people quite upset about it.

According to a report, legislation met and representatives were not able to meet in the middle on the latest terms for the betting bills. With things officially not moving forward, that means that sports betting in the Peach State won’t arrive until 2025 at the earliest. Again, this is a major bummer and it’s news that no one was expecting. The hope for a lot of people was that the bill would be approved and the next step would be taken.

However, it’s back to square one for Georgia. This latest bill had a focus on online sports betting, which would have been able to generate a ton of revenue for the state. However, the main issue for officials was deciding on how much of the online sports betting would be taxed. There were a lot of arguments on the percentage that would be presented. Now, those same officials will have to wait until next year to try and get something done.

As of this writing, 38 states in the USA have gotten sports betting approved. The hope was that Georgia would become No. 39, but we now know that’s not going to be the case. Come 2025, a new sports betting bill will be presented, but the optimism that something will get done isn’t going to be high at all. Folks were hoping they’d be able to bet on the MLB and NFL action this fall, but that’s not going to happen. Georgia can’t seem to catch a break.

No Braves betting will once again be rough for Georgia fans

It goes without saying, but no Braves betting will once again be rough for Georgia fans. The 2024 Major League Baseball season is already underway and Atlanta is looking to make a splash from start to finish this campaign. The Braves have strong World Series betting odds to win it all this year. Because of the young talent on this team, people would have loved the chance to place bets on them from start to finish in 2024.

However, any of the bets that come in on the Braves this year will all be illegal. This is something Georgia authorities are quite familiar with, as illegal Braves betting has been a major problem in recent seasons. With Atlanta hoping to push for another NL East title this year, it seems like they very well could be looking at another NL pennant as well. Folks will be checking the MLB betting odds quite a bit, especially once we get to the heart of the season and games against the Phillies arrive.

“It is Philly by far, where we’re going, that is by far the most hostile crowd,” Snitker said in a recent interview discussing the rivalry. “I know after the playoffs last year, my wife’s like ‘I don’t care what you guys are doing, I’m not going back there.’ It’s rough there. And they don’t seem to mind, either, quite honestly. It was rough on them all last year to the point where it was concerning.”

The Braves won’t be the only team that Atlanta fans keep a close eye on, as the Yankees, Dodgers, Astros and others are hoping to push for a World Series title too. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season goes down, but the Braves will be fired up to make a ton of noise. The thing that sucks here, though, is that with the new betting bill failing, no legal bets will be allowed in the near future. Sorry, Braves fans, but maybe next year your luck will change in that department.

Falcons fans are also upset about the latest betting news

As you might have been able to guess, Falcons fans are also upset about the latest betting news that has come in. While it was unlikely that things would get done in time by the NFL Draft, people had been eyeing the start of the new season to be able to check the NFL betting odds for Atlanta.

There are high hopes for the Falcons this season after they were able to bring in quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cousins is a stud signal-caller and with the strong players around him for the offense, the Falcons could be in a spot to make a lot of noise in ’24. We can’t wait to see how Cousins does now that he’s with the Falcons, but the fact that people can place legal wagers on them is disappointing. This is something Georgia needs to try and figure out as soon as possible.
