When it comes to Missouri Sports betting updates, we’ve seen quite a bit arrive in recent months. That’s because pro teams in the state have united to try and get things passed in legislation. Small steps have been reached, which has brought excitement to the overall efforts. With that said the news just came in that the Missouri sports betting push reached a key new stage and people are thrilled about that.
According to a report, multiple different versions of a sports betting proposal were approved by Missouri Secretary of State John Ashcroft. With that, the next step is for around 170,000 signatures to be gathered from people in support of the bill. After that, some more steps will need to be taken to try and get the bill on the next ballot. There’s still a long road to go, but people are feeling optimistic about things.
Kansas has legalized sports betting and now folks are waiting to see if Missouri will be able to follow suit. The pro teams, including the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and Kansas City Chiefs, pushing for sports betting know about the revenue potential that there is for the state. Illegal crime has grown in Missouri and this is something that lawmakers and officials need to start taking seriously.
Moving forward, the hope is that reaching 170,000 signatures won’t be difficult at all. From our chair, we think this should be pretty easy, as there’s been a growing amount of support throughout the state. After that, the wheels will still need to get in motion for the bill to be present on the ballot for a vote state-wide, but again, people are feeling confident that will be able to get done in time.

NFL betting for next year will be key for the state
One thing to keep in mind here is that NFL betting for next year will be key for the state – this is something they’re focusing on, with the goal of legal wagers arriving in time for the end of the regular season and the playoffs in 2024. In Missouri, there’s no question that countless fans are keeping a close eye on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. In recent years, they’ve won two Super Bowls and another title could be on the way this February.

A major focus for the proponents right now is could sports betting be legalized by late 2024? At this point last year, we were asking the same question, but for 2023. There was also some momentum for sports betting to get done by this year, but things unfortunately didn’t happen.
A lot of sports fans were quite disappointed that happened, as there indeed was quite a bit of movement in the right direction. Now, though, with the pro teams joining in unison to try and get things across the line, this feels like the best chance Missouri has ever had in trying to get things legalized. This has so many out there quite excited about the potential.
In the coming weeks, we should have more answers about the next steps that need to be taken to keep climbing towards the top of the mountain. Sports betting would be a major benefit for the state and it feels like the process is down in the red zone if you want to use football terms. This will be something to monitor closely until the end of the year, no doubt about that right there.
