This year’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will mark the 30-year anniversary since the tragic death of the legendary Ayrton Senna. While the event was cancelled last year due to flooding, Max Verstappen won in both 2021 and 2022.

Verstappen favored again
Max Verstappen (-450) placed second at the Miami Grand Prix, extending his championship lead to 35 points over teammate Sergio Perez. After capturing four of the season’s first six events, the Dutchman has won 23 of the past 28 events.
Lewis Hamilton, whose 103 GP wins is the most of all time, didn’t pick up his 60th victory until he was 32. And Michael Schumacher, who has 91 career wins, didn’t accomplish the feat until age 33. Verstappen is sitting at 58 career checkered flags at only 26 years of age.

Is Lando Norris for real?
Lando Norris is at +750 to win at Imola after being +3300 heading into the Miami GP, where he picked up his first win in 110 career starts. Following his maiden victory, the young Brit said, “We can win more races this year, I think we can compete against Red Bull. ” Norris also finished second at the Chinese Grand Prix in the previous race, and now sits fourth in the Drivers’ standings.
However, it’s fair to question whether his team can really compete. The Miami win was only McLaren’s second triumph in the past 12 years.
Upgrades set for Imola
McLaren heavily-upgraded the MCL38 for Lando Norris before his victory in Miami, and other teams are following suit. Racing on the Scuderia’s home track, Charles Leclerc (+1100) and Carlos Sainz (+2200) will look to make Enzo e Dino Ferrari proud. Shifting to an “overbite” intake system is just one of the upgrades Ferrari has made to the SF-24 ahead of Sunday’s race.
Mercedes is rolling out the second half of its upgrade package in hopes of making George Russell (+8000) and Lewis Hamilton (+8000) more competitive. And Red Bull has planned some upgrades for Imola in hopes of reestablishing their dominance.

Best Longshot Bet
With the disclaimer that Max Verstappen (-450) will in all likelihood drive to his third-career victory at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc (+1100) is an intriguing underdog. With his Italian team rolling our major upgrades on home soil, the 26-year-old is an excellent longshot bet to register his first win this season.
