Is this the part of the year when the Seattle Mariners turn things around? Things are flying high for the AL West squad, as they’re now back in the hunt to potentially capture an AL Wild Card spot this fall. The Mariners made it to the postseason last year, breaking a streak of more than 20 years without advancing. Now this week, the Mariners are favored to take down the Padres in a Wednesday showdown. Will they come out on top?
The Mariners are playing with a ton of confidence right now after they just posted an impressive series in Anaheim. Seattle swept the LA Angels, doing so in impressive fashion. After that series, the Mariners are now 60-52 on the year and their MLB betting odds to make it to the playoffs have skyrocketed. Luis Castillo, Julio Rodriguez, Ty France, Cal Raleigh and others are stepping up and making an impact.

With Seattle eight games over .500, manager Scott Servais is turning around the locker room at the right time. Now, they have this important series with the Padres and the pressure is going to be on this team to deliver in front of the hometown fans. With these contests being played at T-Mobile Park, it will be imperative for the Mariners to post another big win or two, especially on Wednesday.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Mariners hold -115 MLB betting odds to post a victory against San Diego. Meanwhile for the Padres, they’ve been set at +125. It’s not going to be easy for Seattle to come away with a win, but the fact of the matter is that they’re playing their best baseball of the year right now. With how powerful both of these offenses are, there’s no question in our mind that the over should hit between the Mariners and Padres in this one. Starting with the Mariners, Rodriguez, France, Raleigh and more have been a joy to watch of late. With J-Rod, he got off to a bit of a slow start this campaign and his first half of the year wasn’t what people were hoping to see out of the AL Rookie of the Year.
However, things have really improved for him after the All-Star break. Matter of fact, the Seattle offense as a whole has done a great job of helping their starting pitchers out with some run support. In order for the Mariners to keep climbing up the rankings, there’s no question that the offense will still need to improve. However, their strong play over the past two weeks has been a breath of fresh air.

On the other side of the field, the Padres have an electric lineup, highlighted by Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado. Soto is still one of the most exciting young players in the game and the San Diego fans are waiting to see if he’ll land a big-time extension or not. People in the area don’t want to see Soto go anywhere. The same can be said for Tatis as well, as he has home run power anytime he’s at the dish.
Per the oddsmakers, the over/under has been at 6.5 runs for Wednesday’s tilt. From our chair, we don’t see these two teams combining for anything less than seven runs. J-Rod, Soto, France, Tatis and the other sluggers will do their best to make magic happen at T-Mobile Park. Something tells us that this is going to be an exciting showdown from start to finish, which is why we’re going with the over in this one.

With all the excitement surrounding Seattle, the Mariners are hoping to get back to the playoffs for the second consecutive year. Just about a month ago, this felt like a long shot, as Seattle was struggling and they couldn’t get much of anything done both with their pitching and hitting.
However, that’s no longer the case, as the AL side is really looking sharp and fans are excited about their potential. Last year, the Mariners stunned the Blue Jays in the Wild Card Round, setting a statement to the rest of the league. In the Divisional Series, they suffered a tough loss to the Astros.
This year, though, people are hopeful that Seattle can surprise everyone and get back to the ALCS for the first time in more than 20 years. Will they be able to get it done? That’s up in the air, but first, the Mariners must make the postseason. They hold +175 odds to sneak in and we think they’ll be able to get that job done. We’ll see how this plays out for the M’s.
