MLB Betting News This Week | Mariners on the Rise, MVP & Cy Young Odds Changes | June 1, 2026

As we somehow inch even closer to the MLB All-Star Break, the action is getting even hotter when it comes to MLB betting news. Right now, there are of course teams that are standing out in terms of the favorites to make noise this fall, with the list of course including the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, we’re also seeing other clubs begin to get hot at the right time, which is huge for those respective fanbases.
On top of that, several hitters and pitchers are also reminding people why they’re so darn talented, with them also heating up. At the same time, there are also some injury concerns that are having a big-time impact on the latest MLB betting trends. We’ve got that and much more covered for you in our latest MLB betting update, as both good news and bad news continues to come in for teams across both leagues.
Top MLB betting storylines
There have been some pretty eye-opening MLB betting storylines this week, starting on June 1, for fans to follow closely. Here are the main ones on our minds:
- The Mariners are on a strong winning streak
- Slugger Julio Rodriguez has been on a tear for Seattle
- The Dodgers are showing no signs of slowing down
- Elly De La Cruz landing on the IL is a setback for the Reds
- Yankees made history in a win over the A’s
- Atlanta is dominating the NL East and no one will catch them
- Things getting worse for the lowly Red Sox
- The Guardians are hanging on in the AL Central
World Series odds movement
Once again, we’re seeing the World Series betting odds change a little bit in a big way for the Seattle Mariners. At the end of May, the Mariners had +1100 odds to win the World Series. However, thanks to a new impressive winning streak, the AL West side now holds the third-best MLB betting odds, as they’re up to +800. For now, the Mariners are behind the Dodgers and the Yankees, which is no surprise.
Keep in mind too that the Mariners have never been to the World Series. Last season, the Seattle side reached the ALCS for the first time since 2001. However, in Game 7, the Mariners lost to the Toronto Blue Jays, who went on to lose to the Dodgers in the World Series. Since then, the Mariners have been motivated to bounce back and they’re looking like a serious threat to do things. Will Dan Wilson and his players finally be able to get over the hump? It will be interesting to see if that happens.
Just got home from the Mariners game. Been attending sporting events my whole life and I have never, NEVER seen a player interact with fans and place such a premium on the fans as Julio Rodriguez. It’s incredible. Beyond rare and even more so for a player of his talent.

Kyle Schwarber is the new Home Run king favorite
It’s funny how things can change in a bit of a flash. For the majority of the start of the season, Aaron Judge was the clear top dog to finish with the most home runs in the bigs this season. His hot start sure had people talking too. Since then, though, there’s been a change, as Kyle Schwarber entered early June with an MLB-leading 22 home runs, while Aaron Judge sat just behind him.
Because of this, Schwarber indeed is the new favorite with +185 MLB betting odds, while Judge is behind him at +315. Obviously, things change down the road, but it should be noted that Schwarber has been on a bit of a tear and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. Will anyone be able to catch him? The MLB betting analysis surrounding Schwarter hints that it will be tough, but you never know how things will go down.
Aaron Judge isn’t losing his footing in the AL MVP race
While Judge may no longer be the favorite to finish with the most homers this season, that doesn’t mean he isn’t still getting things done as a whole. And with that, Judge remains the top contender to win AL MVP honors again, as he’s been placed at -180. Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals is behind him at +310 and while he’s a superstar player too, it’d be a bit of a shocker if Judge doesn’t take this award home again. He’s simply that good and showing no signs of slowing down.
What makes Judge such a great player is that he’s dangerous with the bat in his hands, but he’s also fantastic in the field as well. With him playing so well, it’s no surprise that the Yankees are considered the AL favorites to win the pennant this year. If that happens for them, it’s because Judge continues to put up insane numbers.
Shohei Ohtani’s MVP odds are only getting better
Meanwhile in the National League, should we go ahead and just give the award to Shohei Ohtani? It’s becoming a formality at this point, as his -700 MLB MVP betting odds sure are head-turning to say the least here in this case. We don’t want to jinx things here, but unless the LA Dodgers superstar gets injured or something, no one is going to be able to catch him in this race. Ohtani is the best of the best and he’s well on his way to yet another MVP honor.
Cam Schlittler keeps moving closer to Cy Young glory
Now for the pitcher? Yup, we’ve got to get things started with Cam Schlittler of the New York Yankees, as he appears to be running away with the award. As of June 1, he now holds +110 odds to win the AL Cy Young, which is clear and away the best against other competition. The closest ones behind him? They’re at +550, which speaks volumes to how solid he has been for the Yankees. With New York hoping to push for the pennant, Schlittler’s performances will be quite important.
Lowest ERA among MLB starters on 6/1:
1. Cristopher Sanchez: 1.47
2. Cam Schlittler: 1.50
3. Nick Martinez: 1.62
4. Jacob Misiorowski: 1.65
5. Chase Burns: 1.96
6. Davis Martin: 2.00
7. Chris Sale: 2.01
8. Parker Messick: 2.21
9. Eduardo Rodriguez: 2.31
10. Bryce Elder: 2.50 pic.twitter.com/VCFQYX3AvZ— Baseball Is Dead (@baseballisdead_) June 1, 2026
NL Cy Young odds have seen a major shakeup
This might be the biggest stunner of this entire article, but after being the favorite for so long, Paul Skenes has now taken a bit of a backseat. To start the new month of June, Skenes is now third in terms of odds at +450. What ended up changing things? Skenes has had his fair share of troubles, while other pitchers in the National League have looked much stronger.
Currently, Christopher Sanchez of the Phillies holds the best odds at +135, which is pretty stunning. The Phillies are also hoping to make a splash in the fall and having Sanchez pitch so well could make a difference. Could Skenes end up catching up sooner rather than later? Potentially, but Sanchez is the one that everyone is talking about right now.
AL Division futures odds include the Rays making a splash
While the Yankees continue to be the favorites to win the AL and AL East, keep in mind that the Tampa Bay Rays are on a bit of a tear. Matter of fact, the Rays are in first place of the AL East, which no one expected at this point of the season. Still, we still think the Yankees will go on to win the division. The same can be said for the Mariners in the AL West, while the Guardians are the ones making most of the noise in the AL Central.
The Dodgers are going to run away with the NL West
Over in the National League, we probably don’t have to remind you that the Dodgers are in cruise control in their division. They are a lock to win the NL West, as the Dodgers are eyeing another World Series title. In the NL East, it’s starting to feel like no one is going to catch up to the Braves. Last but not least in the NL Central, The Brewers continue to hold a slight edge over the Cardinals, as Milwaukee’s +150 odds to win the division sure have plenty of people talking.
