mexico_brazilAfter a shaky start, Brazil needs to show why they are the number contenders on winning the 2014 World Cup at home when they take on Mexico, this Tuesday at 3 PM ET at the Castelão stadium, Fortaleza, in the second fixture for group A.

Brazil played well at times against Croatia, but it was an inexplicable penalty that lean the balance in their favor winning 3-1 in the end.  Mexico will be a different type of opponent than Croatia; they might not defend as well, but they punch back.

“Every time we play against Mexico we have difficulties,” Luiz Felipe Scolari said. “That is why it is a game the players know will be very even, they need to have very good conditioning from the beginning until the end.

“The two teams play football of very good quality, with the ball on the ground, lots of moving around.

“That’s why we will insist on all the necessary training, on the necessary respect towards Mexico. But we know a victory will put us in a highly comfortable position for the next round, so we’ll play with that in mind.”

Mexico beat Cameroon 1-0, and a win or even one point against Brazil would be huge.

‘We need to work, now we are at the top with three points. We will go out to win the next game, we are more excited than ever,” said Mexican coach Miguel Herrera. ‘We will concentrate on what we have to do.’

Brazil is listed -275 to win the game, Mexico is +1000 and the draw is +475, in the World Cup money line.
