  • Justin Thomas (+1200) and Jordan Spieth (+1800) are among the players competing for $8.4M in prize money
  • The event tees off from Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida on Thursday, March 21, 2024

Schauffele favored over the field

Xander Schauffele (+750) finished top 12 in his only previous appearance at Copperhead in 2022. The American is not only the highest ranked player in the field, he’s the most well-rounded. That should serve him well on a course that necessitates elite tee-to-green play. However, will Schauffele be able to get his mind right following his crushing loss at The Players Championship?

Sam Burns (+1100) won back-to-back Valspar Championships in 2021 and 2022 before placing sixth last year. The king of Copperhead has never missed a cut in five tries and has a 67.75 scoring average in his last dozen rounds on the course. While Burns disappointed with a T45 finish at TPC Sawgrass, he scored four top-10s across his previous five starts.

Other big names

Justin Thomas (+1200) has five top-10 finishes with a 68.83 scoring average over his last 12 rounds at Palm Harbor with a T3 on 2022. However, like this next guy, Thomas missed the cut at TPC Sawgrass last week.

Jordan Spieth (+1800) hit just 13 fairways over two rounds at Copperhead. With his struggles off the tee, it’s hard to see Spieth winning an event that’s all about driving the ball and par 5 scoring. Still, Spieth won here in 2015 and tied for third last year.

Three wagers to consider

Brian Harman (+2200) is coming off a runner-up finish at the Players and secured a T5 on this course in 2022. On the other hand, the reigning Champion Golfer of the Year has made just one of six cuts at Copperhead since 2015.

Tony Finau (+2200) is making his first trip to Palm Harbor, Florida since 2018. While he tied for 45th at TPC Sawgrass, he has three top 20s in his last five outings and is atop the PGA Tour in many tee-to-green metrics.

Adam Hadwin (+4500) brought home his one and only PGA tour victory at the Valspar Championship in 2017. The Canadian has three top 15s on this course and three top 15s in 2024.

Best longshot

Doug Ghim (+4000) is on a heater with five top 20s in a row. Over the past 24 rounds, only Schauffele tops the 27-year-old in Total Strokes Gained. Additionally, he ranks second in adjusted scoring and is tied for first in par-5 scoring this season. Once a terrible putter, Ghim has also gained strokes on the greens in four of his last five appearances.
