Stacey Abrams Doubles Down on Georgia Sports Betting

The race is heating up in Georgia for governor and one thing could really make an impact on the voters. That would be the fact that Stacey Abrams doubles down on Georgia sports betting and she’s not going to be changing her stance on things at all. With Abrams hoping to become the state’s new governor moving forward, she is speaking out publicly on how important she thinks sports betting for everyone in Georgia would be.

Current governor Brian Kemp has failed in getting things done in Georgia, which has plenty of people upset. Now, Abrams is ready to try and use this to her advantage, as she also released a new ad not only pushing for sports betting as part of her campaign, but she’s also calling out Kemp for his lack of effort in trying to get something done. This has raised plenty of eyebrows.

“While Georgians still place bets, Kemp is forcing them out of state to do it, taking the tax dollars with them,” Abrams said in her latest advertisement.

We don’t have to tell you that this has infuriated a lot of people, but at the same time it also makes a lot of sense. People all over Georgia have had to leave the state to make their wagers. This is something folks want to no longer be the case as soon as possible. Kemp clearly could care less about sports betting, which is unfortunate. Abrams is on the other side of the wall in this case and she wants there to be some sort of movement. This could truly help get her over the top in this race.

There’s plenty of betting opposition in Georgia

One thing that could impact Abrams in her pursuit of legalization is that there’s plenty of betting opposition in Georgia. Much like Alabama, which is hoping to get things across the board in 2023, not everyone likes the idea of sports betting going down. With things seemingly split down the middle, this has a lot of the state siding with Kemp, while others are ready to support Abrams in her ventures.

This is what’s making the governor’s battle that much more interesting. Abrams is receiving plenty of backlash for her latest advertisement, and the people against the betting are making their voices heard. Right now, a lot of the worry is that gambling addiction will take place in Georgia if things are legalized. Yes, this is surely going to be a concern, but we’ve seen things handled across the USA.

However, Abrams also knows that illegal bets are being made. This way, things will be regulated. Are people worried about gambling addiction with things illegal? It just doesn’t make sense here. All in all, Abrams knows the value of the betting and that’s why so many people are excited to see her potentially get into office. It’s one of the major changes that she’s ready to put in place.

The longer Georgia waits, the more the state is losing out on revenue, and the more trips people are being forced to take out of the state to fill their betting needs. Why should money be going to local businesses outside of Georgia for betting purposes? There’d be economic benefits for locations all over Georgia with sports betting put into place. Abrams is far too familiar with this, which only adds to her interest in making something happen.

Football betting would be massive in Georgia

As you might have been able to guess, a lot of people are pushing for this movement because they know that football betting would be massive in Georgia. Obviously, people would be checking the NCAAF odds consistently for the Georgia Bulldogs, as UGA was able to win the National Championship last season. They took down the Alabama Crimson Tide, only making things sweeter for Kirby Smart and Co.

This year, Georgia is hoping to try and repeat and people are still upset they can’t, legally, make their bets. Abrams has heard the cries and she’s hoping to rectify things as soon as she’s presented as governor, if she ends up winning. This is something that a lot of people are hoping for.

It’s not only college football betting that would have people fired up for the fall. In addition, people would be sure to check the NFL betting odds for upcoming wagers. There’d be high interest in the Atlanta Falcons, as this team has a lot of young and exciting talent on the roster. This of course includes former first-round pick Kyle Pitts, who is emerging as a star tight end in the league. His development really has been great to see.

With the heart of the season underway, it only adds to the anger for no legal bets being allowed. Abrams is ready for all of that to be wiped away. First, she’ll need to become the new governor for the state. This is of course going to be something to keep a close eye on for a little while. We’ll find out soon enough how things shape out for Abrams.
