NBA Betting – Can Veteran Spurs Tame Grizzlies?

Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs (-3, 194.5 o/u)

The Memphis Grizzlies (20-4, 8-3 away) just made a big statement in the Western Conference. Last night, the Southeast Division leaders put a decisive end to the Golden State Warriors’ 16-game win streak, 105-98.

The Grizzlies’ version of the “Big 3″ led the charge, with Marc Gasol scoring 24 points, and Mike Conley and Zach Randolph adding 17 apiece. But it was the Memphis bench that proved to be the difference, including veteran Vince Carter who chipped in with 16.

Said Gasol, “[The bench] came in, and I thought defensively they did an amazing job playing from one side of the floor helping the other side. … Vince made some tough shots.”

Added Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger, “It was a great win. I’m proud of the guys, especially on this stage.”

Next up for Memphis is a rematch with the San Antonio Spurs (17-8, 8-2 home) at the AT&T Center. The reigning NBA champs beat the Grizzlies less than two weeks ago, 107-101 in Memphis.

However, the Spurs will look much different tonight, with Tony Parker (hamstring) and Kawhi Leonard (hand) both out. Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili both missed San Antonio’s most recent game – a 108-95 loss to Portland – but are expected to be ready tonight.

Said Spurs rookie Kyle Anderson, who scored 15 against the Blazers, “We don’t want to feel sorry for ourselves because we’re short-handed or whatever. We’re going out there to try to win the game, compete, and do the things we normally do. If we fall short we could all look in the mirror and say we competed.”

You can expect a tight game tonight, defensively speaking, as both Memphis and San Antonio are allowing just over 95 PPG. However, look for the rested Spurs to win at home against a Memphis squad that played last night, which means lay the points (-3).
