Golden State Warriors breakdown and analysis
The question about Steph Curry‘s foot seems to have been answered. Curry’s final regular season game came on March 16. An injured foot kept him on the sidelines. When the playoffs began, the Golden State Warriors elected to play Curry off the bench. He scored 16 points in 22 minutes in Game 1. In Game 2, Curry played 23 minutes and led the Warriors in scoring with 34 points.
One reason the Warriors can ease Curry back into the playoff lineup is the play of Jordan Poole. Poole started Game 1 and Game 2. He led the Warriors in scoring in Game 1 with 30 points. He was second to Curry in Game 2 with 29 points while playing 34 minutes.
Draymond Green has played well on defense in the first two games of the playoffs. His play is one of the reasons Nikola Jokic has scored below his season average in the first two games of the series between the Warriors and Nuggets.
Denver Nuggets breakdown and analysis
The Denver Nuggets seem to be falling apart two games into the 2022 NBA Playoffs. Will Barton and DeMarcus Cousins had an argument on the bench during a third period time out and reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic was ejected with seven minutes left in the game.
Denver had a 43-31 lead in the second quarter of game two, but that disappeared after the Warriors outscored them 41-14. The second half saw the Warriors put up 44 points in the third quarter.
Against a team as deep as the Warriors, the Nuggets cannot afford to become frustrated and it looks like that is what is happening.
Denver coach, Michael Malone, is hopeful that a return to Denver will help settle the team.
2021-22 NBA season series
The Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors played four times during the 2021-22 NBA regular season. Denver won three of those games (131-124, 117-116, 89-86). Golden State’s one win came in March when they defeated the Nuggets in Denver by a score of 113-102.
Our pick
The Warriors were not a particularly good road team during the 2021-22 NBA regular season. The club was 22-19 when visiting the home court of their opponents. However, one of those road wins came in Denver.
The other thing Golden State has going for them is momentum. With Poole playing well and Curry coming off the bench to put up big numbers, the Warriors are playing the type of basketball that should get them the win in Game 3 of their series against the Denver Nuggets.
Pick: Golden State to beat Denver.
