After a rough June and July for Maryland sports betting news, lawmakers and officials were hoping that a bounce-back month would be recorded. Luckily for everyone involved, that’s exactly what happened. Last week, the official numbers were dropped for the state, and Maryland sports betting recorded an impressive August handle. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise, as people were clearly fired up for the NFL season to get here.
While the regular season is where the majority of bets are being placed, people love the preseason. It goes without saying, but September should also be a fantastic sports betting month for Maryland. We mentioned this already above, but this is the time of the calendar year when NFL betting is going to be through the roof. Commanders fans are excited to see the next few games, which includes this weekend’s showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles. This is a massive NFC East game and Washington is hoping to post an upset. It will be on Howell to try and get this offense moving the right way.
Unfortunately in Week 3, Washington couldn’t do much of anything on offense, suffering a 37-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are a serious threat this year and they proved they belong in the Super Bowl conversation with the way they looked this past Sunday. Josh Allen has strong NFL betting odds to win MVP this year and he’ll surely have to be at his best to help this team go on a deep postseason run.

As for Washington, they’re 2-1 on the year and ready to try and stun a lot of people in Week 4. Things are going to be tough for them, as the Eagles are the reigning NFC champions and they’re hoping to get back to the Super Bowl this season too. Jalen Hurts is without question one of the best quarterbacks in the game and he has reminded people of how amazing he is with the ball in his hands.
This is all good news from a sports betting standpoint. You can fully expect countless bets to be placed on the Commanders this weekend when facing Philly. It’s going to be a tough game for them to win, but you never know what might happen on any given Sunday. If the Commanders somehow get the job done, then people will cash in big.
