After Tyson Fury defeated Dillian Whyte via TKO in the sixth round of their April boxing match, Fury announced his retirement. That retirement did not last long. The 34-year-old, who holds the WBC and The Ring heavyweight titles, returns to the ring on Saturday, December 3 to face Derek Chisora for the third time. Fury vs. Chisora III takes place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. The card streams on ESPN+.

Fury and Chisora first met in July 2011. Fury won that contest by unanimous decision. The victory gave Fury the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles. The loss was the first in the career of Chisora. The two met for the second time in 2014. Fury scored an 10th-round stoppage win in that scrap. Fury won the European and WBO International heavyweight titles in that bout and claimed the vacant British heavyweight title.

Neither Fury nor Chisora are currently rated by The Ring. Fury brings a 32-0-1 record into this trilogy bout, while the 38-year-old Chisora is 33-12.

Tyson Fury vs. Derek Chisora III prediction and pick

This was not the fight the majority of boxing fans wanted to see from Tyson Fury. The hope was that Fury would face Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk. Instead, Fury opted to face Derek Chisora, a man he has soundly defeated on two previous occasions and a fighter who is one bout removed from a three-fight losing skid.

There’s no reason to believe Chisora will win this fight if Fury is taking the contest seriously. If we see the same version of Fury who faced Deontay Wilder in 2021’s “Fight of the Year” or the 2022 version of Fury who knocked out Whyte, Fury should cruise to victory. For Chisora to win, he needs to deliver the best performance of his career, which is unlikely at his age.

The easy pick here is Fury to win. The how is the hard pick for this fight. Chisora is a good fighter and he went 12 rounds with Usyk in 2020 in a unanimous decision loss. One of the big things to consider in picking the outcome of this fight is the fact that Fury gave Chisora, who he is friendly with, this fight when he did not need to. With that, is this fight more or less a glorified sparring match designed to give both men a healthy payday and the English boxing fans a show?

Pick: Tyson Fury to beat Derek Chisora.

Who has the edge

There’s literally nowhere that Chisora is better than Fury. The only advantage he could have is if Fury is not taking this fight seriously. With his unbeaten record and his history, I find it nearly impossible to believe that Fury will not be prepared for this fight. He does not want to risk hurting his legacy by losing a fight that is being looked at as an easy win.

Pick: Tyson Fury to beat Derek Chisora.

Our pick

The obvious pick here is Fury to win, but there is very little value in that pick. I suspect the fight will reach the halfway point, so the best bet for Fury vs. Chisora III might be a prop bet on the length of the contest. As for the method of victory. Fury has won his past three fights by knockout. I’m torn if he will look to land a knockout blow in this contest, but I think Fury has the skills, technique and power to rack up damage and outclass Chisora in this one and that could lead to a TKO win.

Prediction: Tyson Fury to defeat Derek Chisora via TKO.
