As you can see, Drake is a heavy -800 favorite while Budden returns at +425. Drizzy is 37, while Budden is 43. Not a major age difference, but the sportsbooks clearly believe the Toronto native can take out Budden if they did come to fists in the ring.

History of The Beef

It all started back in 2016. Budden, who rose to popularity partly from his song “Pump it up”, criticized Drake’s album “Views” on his podcast at the time, saying it was “uninspiring” even though it did get nominated for two Grammy’s.

“I think that that kid on that album that I heard sounds real  uninspired. That music sounds good, and I enjoy it,” Budden said before referring to Drake’s collaborator and producer Noah “40” Shebib. “40, you sound amazing. 40 continues to progress; Drake, you do not.”, via Insider.

It didn’t take long for Drizzy to respond. Only a month later, The OVO founder made the track “4 PM in Calabasas” and seemed to take some jabs at Budden. Later that summer, Drake took another shot at Budden at a concert, seemingly mocking his song “Pump it Up”.

But, it doesn’t stop there. Many times since 2016, they’ve gone back and forth with each other through songs and social media. It really took off this year when Budden put down Drake’s “For All The Dogs” album on his podcast, saying he sounds like he’s rapping for children. That’s when Drizzy went OFF on Instagram with a lengthy comment, essentially ripping apart Budden’s entire career:

“You left it behind to do what you are doing in this clip cause this is what actually pays your bills,” Drake said.

“…you switched careers cause the things that pop into your brain had you broke living cheque to cheque and the raps you write had 450 men showing up to your shows in dusty Enyce jeans to screw up their face to Mood Muzik 29 and pretend you are the goat,” Drake wrote.

“This is a man projecting his own self hate and the fact I did and continue to do everything he wanted to do for himself. If you need it put in simpler terms I own a 767…he owns a modest house in the 973 and flies first class on special occasions.”

What Could a Drake vs Joe Budden Fight Look Like?

First off, both of these guys are entertainers, not boxers. But, Drake has been seen in the gym getting in some work with a punching bag, for what it’s worth. Budden is no pushover though, growing up in a tough New York City neighborhood.

It’s also important to note that Budden did agree to fight Gillie Da Kid, who he did have beef with. The two settled their differences but reportedly agreed to set something up in the future. Drake is never shy to bet absurd money on combat sports, throwing cash down on both Jake Paul and Logan Paul in past years.

Honestly, based on what Drizzy said to Budden in that last IG comment, they sound like fighting words. If I’m Budden, I’m ready to throw hands with a guy who just put down my whole career.

Drake vs Joe Budden Picks

Drake is a great artist and all, but he isn’t hood and never will be. Budden looks tough as nails and I honestly do believe he’d be able to take Drizzy in a fight if that ever happened. +425 looks pretty damn good right now.
