This weekend, Colorado is in town and the Dodgers should take down the Rockies in Sunday’s series finale. Will they come out on top?
They should, as LA indeed is playing at a high level. In this contest, the Dodgers will be sending out Julio Urias to pitch, while the Rockies will be going with Chris Flexen. No disrespect to Flexen, but it’s hard to believe that he still has a job in the starting rotation for the Rockies right now. On the year, Flexen is 1-5 with a 7.92 ERA. An ERA flirting with 8.00 is a joke and it’s a bad sign whenever you’re about to take on the Dodgers.

Flexen entered the year hoping to post a bounce-back year, but that hasn’t been the case. You could say the same for Colorado as a whole, as they are 45-69 on the season. For the Rockies to be 24 games under .500 is beyond disappointing, with the fan base calling for several people to be fired. The Rockies won’t be going to the playoffs this fall once again and the future isn’t looking bright for them as a whole.
That’s not the case for the Dodgers. While the Rockies don’t have the best lineup in the bigs, Urias has been quite inconsistent for the Dodgers throughout the year. When he’s on his game, Urias, a left-handed hurler, can be quite spectacular. However, the ups and downs have been noted as well. He’ll enter this start with a 9-6 record and a 4.39 ERA.
That ERA is a bit higher than what people were expecting out of Urias, but he has a great chance to get people off his back if he can have a strong showing vs. the Rockies. It’s unknown if that will happen or not, but something tells us that Colorado will not only record plenty of hits in this one, but also score some runs. That could prove to be a problem for the Dodgers, but we still think they’ll win.
For the LA bats, going up against Flexen must feel like Christmas in August. Flexen has easily been one of the worst starters in the National League. With the LA hitters, guys like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, J.D. Martinez and others will be ready to make his life miserable from the moment he sets foot out on the bump. Freeman is still in the NL MVP race, while Betts is a stud whenever the ball is in his hands.
Per the oddsmakers, the over/under has been set at 6.5 runs. Both the Dodgers and Rockies are excited for this series and they’ll surely want to make a statement during Sunday’s finale. With Dodger Stadium expected to be packed as well, something tells us that plenty of runs will be put up on the scoreboard for this one. With that said, we have no choice but to go with the over for this showdown.

With countless eyes on these two teams for Sunday, Mookie Betts will hope to hit a homer in this one. Betts has been fantastic for the Dodgers this season. Matter of fact, Betts has been one of the best players in the NL ever since he made his way to the Dodgers following his playing days with the Boston Red Sox. People all over California are huge fans of Betts’ game, as he indeed is a true superstar. Will he be able to go yard vs. the Rockies? We can’t wait to find out.
