How long can the Seattle Mariners keep things up? Seattle has been red hot this month, highlighted by a series sweep of the Houston Astros. This past weekend, the AL West side kept the good vibes going, sweeping the Kansas City Royals. Now, the Mariners are ready to host the Oakland Athletics for a three-game set. How will things go down? People are excited, as the Mariners are expected to take down the Athletics on Wednesday in the series finale.
It has been another terrible season for the A’s, as they’re in last place in the division. With the team expected to move to Las Vegas down the road too, the morale isn’t high for fans at all. The same can’t be said for people in the Pacific Northwest, as the hype has never been higher for this club. The Mariners are in sole possession of first place in the AL West, which felt impossible just a month ago.

This offense continues to impress, with Julio Rodriguez leading the charge. J-Rod has been on fire and he’s not the only one. Teoscar Hernandez is showcasing his power and he has blasted some memorable home runs of late. Will these two power hitters be able to keep things rocking against Oakland? That could be the case, as the A’s have a terrible starting rotation. It could be another great three games for Seattle against the A’s.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Mariners hold -115 MLB betting odds to take down Oakland. The Athletics are of course underdogs, holding +125 odds to come away with a win. This has been a nightmare season for the A’s and there’s no reason for them to turn things around soon. With that said, we’re going with the Mariners as our pick to come away with a victory.

With the way Seattle has been performing at the plate, the over should hit between the Mariners and Athletics. Come Wednesday, Oakland is set to send out Zach Neal to pitch. On the season, Neal is 1-0 on the year, with a terrible 6.88 ERA. So, Neal and his ERA flirting with 7.00 are supposed to try and contain the Seattle bats. Yeah, that’s going to be a tough challenge for him.
As we have mentioned before, the Mariners offense is on fire. Rodriguez, Hernandez, Ty France, Cal Raleigh and others have been nothing short of fantastic. In the Saturday win over the Kansas City Royals, the Mariners hit a mind-blowing seven home runs. Seven homers in a single game? That’s exactly what the Mariners were able to get done against KC. So, what will the offense have for Oakland?

Bryce Miller is getting the nod for the Mariners. He has been strong this year, posting a 8-4 mark, with a 3.90 ERA. An ERA close to 4.00 isn’t sensational and it shows that the A’s could be in line to record some runs against the Mariners on Wednesday. Even if that happens, there’s no reason that the Seattle offense shouldn’t light up the Oakland pitchers. This has what it takes to be a high-scoring affair.
Per the oddsmakers, the over/under has been set at 6.5 runs, with -110 MLB betting odds for both. It wouldn’t be a stunner to see Seattle cover seven runs all on their own. Oakland could make things easier for the over/under by scoring some runs too. All in all, no one has been able to stop the Mariners of late and we don’t think that A’s will be the ones to settle the dust. We’re no question going with the over here.

Before last season, the Mariners hadn’t made the playoffs since 2001. However, we are seeing the team’s young talent step up and finally play at a high level. This has led to so much pleasure for the local supporters, as they’re dreaming of this team one day getting to the Fall Classic.
The Mariners are in a good place to potentially win the AL West too, but even if that doesn’t happen, they should make the playoffs via a Wild Card spot. All signings are pointing to this team playing more baseball in October. No one is going to want to face them in the postseason. Seattle has been one of the best teams of late in the bigs and they’re not going to be slowing down soon.
