Geoff JohnsonThe Memphis Grizzlies looked flat in game one as they have looked in all game ones these playoffs, but they will try to bounce back this Tuesday at 9 PM ET at AT&T Center, when they take the San Antonio Spurs in game two of the Western Conference finals.
The Grizzlies are 0-3 in Game 1s this postseason. But 8-1 in all other games; so, there’s nothing to be freaked out.
“We just didn’t play well. It’s not anything specific,” coach Lionel Hollins said. “It’s just that we were running too fast; we missed some layups, we were taking bad shots and our defense was really awful. And the Spurs played well.”
The Spurs don’t feel comfortable either; Tony Parker reminded everybody that they led 2-0 last season in this same stage and ended up surrendering the next four.
“I can promise you this: Nobody’s happy in our locker room because we were up 2-0 (in the West finals) last year, and we lost,” Parker said. “It’s just one game. It means nothing. We still have a long way to go.”
Zach Randolph was a no show in game one, shooting 1 of 8 from the floor. “Obviously, he’s their best scorer. He’s a beast inside,” Parker said. “We know he’s not going to play like that every game. It just sometimes it happens.”
The San Antonio Spurs are a 5 point favorite for game two, and the game total is set at 181.5. Memphis is 2-7 ATS in its last 9 games when playing San Antonio.
