- Charlotte Hornets are on a 5-1 run
- Washington Wizards are No. 2 in the Eastern Conference
- Wizards have won four in a row at home
The Charlotte Hornets opened the season on a 3-0 run, but things went south after that. The team alternated wins and losses over its next four games and then lost five straight outings. On November 10, the Hornets bested the Memphis Grizzlies to start a five-game winning streak. That run ended on Saturday with a 115-105 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
The Washington Wizards have been fairly consistent to start the 2021-22 NBA campaign. The team is 11-5 and sitting in first position in the Southeast Division. Washington has not lost more than two consecutive games this season and the team had a run of five straight wins before losing back-to-back games to Charlotte and Miami last week. The Wizards got even with Miami on Saturday. Washington looks to do the same against Charlotte on Monday when they face the Hornets at Capital One Arena in Washington DC.

Hornets vs Wizards Odds
Charlotte Analysis
Charlotte’s recent run has moved the team up to the No. 3 spot in the Southeast Division and giving them a winning record of 10-8. The club is one of the best at putting up points. Only the Golden State Warriors have averaged more points per game than the Hornets 112.3. The bad thing with the Hornets is that only one team, the Memphis Grizzlies, has given up more points per game than the Hornets, who surrender an average of 113.7 points per game.

Miles Bridges leads Charlotte in scoring with an average of 21.6 points per game. The team’s second best offensive threat is LaMelo Ball who is second in points per game for the Hornets with an average of 19.3. Ball leads the team in rebounds (7.8), assists (7.7) and steals (2.0).
The Hornets away scoring has averaged 110.7 points per game this season as opposed to 114.4 at home.
Washington Analysis
Washington is 11-5 on the season and that puts them first in the Southeast Division with a half game lead over the Miami Heat. As for the Eastern Conference, the Wizards trail the 12-5 Brooklyn Nets by a half game.
The Wizards team scoring of 106 points per game, puts them in the bottom third of the league. However, Washington does well in limiting its opponents, allowing an average of 103.4 points per game, which puts them in the No. 7 spot in that category.

Bradley Beal is the only Washington player who is averaging over 20 points per game. Beal’s 23.7 points puts him more than six points per game ahead of the second highest scorer, Montrezl Harrell. Beal also leads the team in assists with 5.9. The team’s top rebounder is Kyle Kuzma, who pulls down 9.2 boards per game. Beal’s scoring average has not been this low since 2017-18.
Washington’s offense is much more effective at home this season than on the road. The club averages 112 points per game at the Capital One Arena and 100 on the road.
Recent Meeting
The first meeting of the season between these two clubs took place on Wednesday, November 17. Charlotte won that game at home by the score of 97-87. The loss ended Washington’s run of five straight wins. Beal was the leading scorer for Washington with 24 points while Terry Rozier paced the Hornets with 19 points.
MyTopSportsbook’s Picks
Bet Washington to win. Washington has been good at home this season with a 7-1 record. The team avenged a recent 112-97 away loss to the Miami Heat with a 103-100 win against Miami at home. Meanwhile, the Hornets are 4-6 in away games and are coming off a 115-105 loss to Atlanta in Atlanta. I expect the Wizards’ good fortune at home will continue in this matchup.
Bet the under. The under has hit in eight of the Wizards’ past nine games and in five of their past six matchups against the Hornets. Expect those trends to continue.
