When it comes to sports betting figures in Delaware, we’ve seen things become like a rollercoaster for bettors. One month things are high, then the next, there’s a complete and total fall from grace. For July and August specifically, the numbers from 2022 compared to 2021 weren’t great.
According to a report, Delaware’s sports betting handle for July was $383,249, which was a 27 percent drop from last summer. It goes without saying, but that’s not what anyone was expecting to see. Typically in the summer months, you’re going to see sports betting go up a little bit as more and more people become fired up for all of the action out there. For July specifically, there’s plenty of excitement leading up to the new football season.
On top of that, people also race to get their bets in for Major League Baseball. Indeed, people are checking out the best MLB betting odds with consistency and then turning around and making some wagers on a consistent level. This simply wasn’t the case in Delaware this summer, which was a bummer. If anything, all of the inconsistent gaming action has to be a bit concerning for officials.
In order for Delaware’s sports betting to really take the next step, the numbers are going to have to increase. There needs to be more positive news for betting, as this also impacts the overall revenue from gambling as well. Only time will tell how things can change here for the state, but there sure is optimism for the future – especially with the best time for bets to be made now here for fans.

It goes without saying, but the NFL season has the potential to be massive for Delaware as a whole. Per a report, floods of bets went in this past weekend for Week 1 of the campaign. Now, people are going to keep checking the best NFL odds throughout the rest of the campaign to get wagers in. That’s the expectation, and it would be a complete and total surprise for it to not go down.
When you take a look at the NFL and Delaware, multiple teams are going to jump off the page when it comes to high interest. This of course, includes the New York Giants, the New York Jets, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Starting with the Giants, Week 1 was one to remember, as the NFC East side traveled to Nashville and was able to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the weekend by taking down the Tennessee Titans.
Now, the Giants will be hosting the Carolina Panthers in Week 2, and bets are coming in on the G-Men to start off the year 2-0. That won’t be easy, as the Panthers will have an upset on their minds. Meanwhile, for the Eagles, they’ve seen their Super Bowl betting odds skyrocket early on this season after their win against the Detroit Lions. Not only that, but Philly is now the favorite to win the NFC East.
Things are a mess for the once-favored Dallas Cowboys, as Dak Prescott is going to miss at least a month after undergoing surgery on his throwing hand. That’s a huge blow for the team, and now the offense belongs to Cooper Rush. This is only a positive for the Giants and Eagles, as both of these teams will look to make noise in the division, and people in Delaware will be ready to bet on things as well.

There’s hope the MLB playoffs can bring bets too
Obviously, there’s hope the MLB playoffs can bring bets too. Yes, the NFL season is huge for the state, but we can’t just forget about the upcoming Fall Classic, either. There are people all over the country who have bets going in for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, New York Yankees, New York Mets, and more. Right now, the Dodgers hold the top World Series betting odds, which makes sense.
This team is loaded with talent, but you never know what could happen during the postseason. Could an underdog stun a bunch of folks and win it all? That could end up happening. For people in Delaware, they’re always going to keep a close eye on the Yankees, as they’re a team of intrigue and not too far away from the state lines. It’s been a rough summer for the Yankees, but there’s hope they themselves can make a breakthrough.
It’ll be on Aaron Judge to try and make that happen. All in all, there are going to be so many opportunities for betting in Delaware, and everyone will want to take advantage of the betting laws. We fully expect the sports handle to get back on track in the coming months. Only time will tell if this proves to be the case or not.
