Romeo Magico

Romeo Magico did not have a good start to the 2022 English Greyhound Derby. He finished third in his first race, nearly six-lengths behind that races winner, Daring Deise. However, he won his next race and then finished a close second in the third round to Signet Goofy. Romeo Magico then hit his stride in the quarter-finals, winning by nearly five lengths. He followed that with a big win in the semi-finals, beating the runner-up, Mickys Barrett by more than three lengths.

Three-time Irish Greyhound Derby winner Graham Holland trains Romeo Magico.

Kildare

Kildare has been consistent during the 2022 English Greyhound Derby. In the opening round, he finished second to Le Bonite in a close race, losing by a neck. The one-year-old followed that with a win, besting last year’s Derby winner Thorn Falcon by close to three lengths. A third place finish followed that win. Then in the quarter-finals, Kildare place second to Priceless Jet. In the semi-final round, he avenged that loss, winning the race ahead of Priceless Jet.

Peter Cronin is the trainer of Kildare.

Priceless Jet

Paul Hennessy is the trainer of Priceless Jet. It looks like the two-time English Greyhound Derby winner has the three-year-old greyhound ready for the final round of this year’s event. Priceless jet finished third, second and third in the first three weeks of the 2022 Derby. However, his finish in the quarter-final round got him his first win, as he bested Kildare in that race by over six lengths. Kildare got the best of Priceless Jet in the semi-final round, but that race was close as Kildare won by just a half length.
