Penn State (10-2) and Ole Miss (10-2) will play each other for the first time ever in this year’s Peach Bowl. The Nittany Lions have been installed as the early favorite, but Lane Kiffin’s Rebels are no punching bag.

Strength on strength
Penn State is No. 1 in the nation in total defense (223.3 YPG). They permitted just 11.4 points per game (No. 3), limiting nine of 12 opponents to 15 points or fewer. Manny Diaz’s D also ranks third in rush defense (69.7 YPG), allowing just 2.16 yards per carry.
However, Ole Miss has the 15th ranked offense in the country, putting up 455.4 yards per game. Quinshon Judkins was on fire down the stretch, racking up more than 100 rushing yards in five of his last eight games. The Rebels running back finished the season with 1,052 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Quarterback matchup
Drew Allar passed for 2,336 yards and 23 TDs this season with only one interception. While taking care of the ball is nice, the Nittany Lions’ sophomore QB hasn’t topped 300 passing yards since the season opener versus West Virginia.
The Rebels have the QB advantage with Jaxson Dart. In his second season at Ole Miss, Dart put up a spectacular 161.8 passer rating and joined 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels as the only other signal caller in the nation to exceed 2,900 passing yards and 300 rushing yards.

Penn State is a 3.5-point favorite in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA with the over/under set at 49.5 points. James Franklin’s team will look to shutdown the Rebels offense and keep the ball on the ground with Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen.
The one-two punch combined for more than 1,500 rushing yards and 14 scores this season, averaging 186.7 yards per game for the nation’s 24th-ranked rushing attack.

Recent bowl history
Ole Miss is making its second New Year’s Six bowl berth in three years. In their last appearance in the 2021 Sugar Bowl, they were defeated 21-7 by Baylor. The Rebels are looking for their first 11-win season in school history. They have a 1-1 all-time record in the Peach Bowl.
Meanwhile, Penn State can make college football history by becoming the first school to record a win in each game that makes up the New Years Six. The Peach Bowl is the only one of the six they’ve never won or played in.
Best Bet
Penn State’s only two losses came to Michigan and Ohio State while the Rebels’ sole defeats came at the hands of Georgia and Alabama.
While this one should be close, we think Ole Miss (+150) can pull off the upset in the Peach Bowl, with the UNDER 48.5 points.
