Belichick’s last season?

Will Robert Kraft actually fire Bill Belichick at the end of the season? Questions about the legendary coach’s job security were momentarily hushed following an upset win over the Bills in week 7. But, the job security chatter has resurfaced with two-straight losses to the Dolphins and Commanders.

New England is averaging the second-fewest points per week (15.0) in the NFL, sitting only ahead of the Giants. In Sunday’s loss to Washington, they managed only 17 points against a team that’s allowing the third-most points (27.2) in the league. While Indianapolis’ defense is almost as bad, permitting 26.9 points per contest, Mac Jones likely won’t be able to take advantage.

Jonathan Taylor ramps up

Shane Steichen has run one of the best offenses in the league in his first season in Indianapolis, but his defense stole the show in week 9. Kenny Moore’s two pick-6’s of rookie Bryce Young led his team to a 27-13 victory over Carolina. Gardner Minshew was held to 127 passing yards and a touchdown while Jonathan Taylor was bottled up for 47 yards on 18 carries.

The newly-signed back did score a TD through the air, however, while seeing a big spike in usage. Taylor now faces a Patriots run defense that sits just outside the top ten, allowing 100.8 rushing yards per week.

New England vs Indianapolis

Indianapolis is a 2-point favorite in Frankfurt on Sunday and the over-under is set at 43.5 points. The Patriots are one of the most popular teams in Germany and should enjoy somewhat of a home-field advantage. However, they may be ill-equipped to exploit a Colts defense that ranks bottom-ten in both passing yards and rushing yards per game.

Rhamondre Stevenson ran for 87 yards and a TD against the Commanders and has looked sharp in recent weeks. Sixth-round rookie Demario Douglas has also taken over as the team’s top receiver. All and all, the Pats are paper thin on top-end talent, so it’s fair to wonder if they can match a Colts offense that ranks seventh in points per game (25.8).

Best Bet

Indianapolis has been an up-and-down team all year, but they have an opportunity to go on a bit of a run here with upcoming games against the Patriots, Buccaneers and Titans.

With Belichick in the midst of a nightmare season, we like the Colts to cover (-2) in Frankfurt on Sunday with the OVER 43.5 points.
