Progress for Fields?
Justin Fields passed for 335 yards and four touchdowns on Sunday, showing major improvement from his performance in the first three weeks of the season. However, it doesn’t take a cynic to point out that he compiled those video-game numbers against a Broncos defense that allowed Miami to rack up 70 points the previous week.
Fields was also intercepted late in the fourth quarter and sacked four times – one of which led to a fumble and a Denver defensive touchdown. Make no mistake, this Bears team is a mess.

Ron Rivera blows it
After Jahan Dotson caught a game-tying TD with two seconds left, Ron Rivera chose to kick the extra point, rather than go for the two-point conversion and the victory. Predictably, the Commanders went three-and-out to start overtime and Philadelphia kicked a game-winning field goal.
Washington has lost two straight, but Sam Howell rebounded nicely from an ugly nine-sack, four-INT showing in week 4 against Buffalo, throwing for 290 yards and a TD, with no picks and 40 yards on the ground.
Washington vs Chicago
Washington is a 6.5-point home favorite with the over/under set at a low 44.5 points. It’s a low game total considering both defenses rank in the lower half of the league. However, the Commanders’ offensive line allows six sacks per week on average while Chicago’s is permitting 4.3 sacks. Those are the two worst marks in the NFL.
The Bears D is fourth-worst against the pass (267.8 yards per game) and Washington struggles against the run, with opponents averaging 122.5 rushing yards per week.

Congratulations if you bet on Matt Eberflus to be the first coach fired. With 10 days off following the Thursday nighter, the Bears are bound to can their second-year head coach if they lose in week 5.
While the Commanders are certainly no world-beaters themselves (their wins have come against Arizona and Denver), they’re nowhere near the dumpster fire that Chicago is. We like Washington to cover the 6.5 points with the OVER 44.5 points.
