The Chargers offense has been effective over the past three games. After dropping a 41-38 game to the Detroit Lions in Week 10, the Chargers scored 20 points against Green Bay, 10 opposite Baltimore and six against the Patriots. That’s not going to get things done against most teams. Fortunately for the Chargers, the Raiders are not most teams, as they are near the bottom of the AFC in points scored (202) and points differential (-54).
The Chargers were once one of the highest-scoring teams in the league, but with the anemic scoring the past three weeks, that is no longer the case, as their 31 total touchdowns rank ninth in the NFL.
I’d look for quarterback Justin Herbert to have a bounce-back performance against the Raiders, as long as his receivers can hold on to the ball, as the receiving corps had six dropped passes against the Packers and five against the Patriots.
Las Vegas Raiders betting breakdown
The Las Vegas Raiders have been a better team since interim head coach Antonio Pierce took over ahead of their Week 9 game against the NY Giants, but the team has still struggled, going 2-2 since then. The Raiders head into Week 15 with losses to the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs in their past two games.
The Raiders are looking back at 2021 heading into this week. That was the year the team dropped to 6-7 after a loss to the Chiefs. The team then went 4-0 in its next four games to make it to the playoffs.
Vegas has been inconsistent this year, the defense is in the bottom half of the league, and the team’s total offense is the fourth worst in the league, and the team’s average of 16.8 points per game is the sixth lowest total in the NFL. The Raiders have only scored more than 20 points in a game twice this season.
A win over the Chargers is doable for the Raiders, but it’s hard to bet on a team who has struggled as much as Las Vegas in 2023.
