Only six times in NFL history has a player repeated as the NFL’s Most Valuable Player. Aaron Rodgers is the last man to claim the award in back-to-back years, winning in both 2020 and 2021. Will two-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes become the latest superstar to accomplish the feat?

Mahomes is the MVP favorite
Before leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl on a bum ankle, Patrick Mahomes (+650) led the NFL in passing yards (5,250) and passing touchdowns (41) in 2022 while captaining Kansas City to a 14-3 regular-season record. While those stats were good enough to secure the second NFL MVP of Mahomes’ career, many forget that Jalen Hurts (+1000) was the frontrunner for the award before a shoulder injury forced him to miss the final two games of the season.
Joe Burrow (+750), Josh Allen (+800) and 2019 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson (+900) round out the top-five betting favorites.

Tier 2 contenders
Justin Herbert (+1000) has the most passing yards (14,089) through a player’s first three seasons in NFL history. He also has a new pass-happy offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore, who promises to unlock the Chargers QB’s big arm with more downfield strikes and less dink-and-dunk.
Trevor Lawrence (+1200) authored a 27-point comeback win on Wild-Card Weekend over Herbert and the Bolts. After throwing 25 touchdowns in year one in Doug Pederson’s offense, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 draft should be even better this year with Calvin Ridley added to the Jaguars’ passing attack.
MVP longshots
Aaron Rodgers (+1800) has picked up four MVPs in his career. If he thrives with the Jets this year, he could follow Peyton Manning as only the second player ever to claim the award with two different teams. A win would also tie Manning for the most MVPs of all-time with five.
Justin Fields (+1800) remains one of the worst bets on the board. While the Bears’ QB fell only 63 yards shy of Lamar Jackson’s single-season rushing record, he also took 55 sacks on just 373 drop backs for an astronomical sack rate of 14.7%. Oh yeah, and Chicago finished with the worst record in all of football.
𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: If #Jets QB Aaron Rodgers throws 25 touchdowns in the first 13 games this season, he will surpass Peyton Manning as the fastest QB to throw 500 career TDs in #NFL history.
Rodgers should be able to make it happen.

Best Bets
Joe Burrow (+750) appears fully recovered from his calf strain and has two of the top wide receivers in the NFL in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. After tossing 69 TDs to lead his Bengals to a 22-10 record over the past two seasons, Joe Cool has the best offensive line to date.
Jalen Hurts (+1000) has made a career out of proving the doubters wrong. This year should be no different with an Eagles squad that’s poised to dominate the NFC for the second-straight year. With the ability to beat teams through the air (3,701 passing yards, 22 TDs, 6 INTs) and on the ground (760 rushing yards, 13 scores), there’s simply no stopping Philly’s dual-threat superstar.
