Bears to upset Packers in NFC North rivalry game on Sunday

  • Green Bay (8-8) is a 3-point home favorite over Chicago (7-9) in the regular season finale
  • The Packers can secure a playoff spot with a win over Justin Fields’ Bears in week 18
  • Sunday’s contest kicks off from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI at 4:25pm ET

While his predecessor does increasingly unhinged segments on The Pat McAfee Show, Jordan Love is on the precipice of leading his Packers to the postseason. But, Justin Fields is fighting for his future in the Windy City with the Bears assured of getting the No. 1 overall pick (and potentially quarterback Caleb Williams) thanks to their trade with the Carolina Panthers.

Before we check the odds on this crucial NFC North matchup and make our picks, here’s where you can find the best Super Bowl betting tips and the top betting sites for NFL football in 2023.

Green Bay fans are in Love

Jordan Love passed for 256 yards and three touchdowns with another score on the ground in Green Bay’s 33-10 victory over the Vikings in week 17. Heading into Sunday, the Packers first-year starter sits third in the NFL with 30 TD passes and only 11 interceptions.

Love did most of his damage without sophomore receiver Christian Watson, who is set to return from his latest soft-tissue ailment this week. After missing most of the year with injuries, Aaron Jones has piled up 120+ rushing yards in consecutive games.

Justin Fields’ last stand?

Justin Fields threw for 268 yards and a TD in a 37-17 blowout win over Atlanta on Sunday, adding another 45 yards and a score on the ground. Matt Eberflus will reportedly return as the Bears head coach after winning four of the past five games, but their young QB’s future is far less certain.

Rather than making a fifth-year-option decision on Fields, Chicago may choose to spend the Panthers’ No. 1 overall pick on generational prospect Caleb Williams. Fields will have one more chance to impress the front office against a Packers team that defeated the Bears 38-20 in the first week of the season.

Green Bay vs Chicago

Green Bay is a 3-point home favorite at Lambeau Field on Sunday and the over/under is set at 44 points. Chicago’s defense is allowing just 15.2 points per game over the last five weeks. Montez Sweat is a big reason why, registering six sacks since being acquired from Washington.

Joe Barry’s much-maligned defense recorded four sacks in a week 17 win over Minnesota. But they faced rookie QB Jaren Hall and journeyman Nick Mullens. Look for the Bears to pound the rock against a Packers defense that’s allowing the fifth-most rushing yards per game (131.6). Khalil Herbert ran for 124 yards and a score in last week’s victory over Atlanta.

Best Bet

Chicago has been one of the best teams in the NFL over the past month with their sole loss coming against the Browns (20-17) in week 15. While Jordan Love has been impressive of late, we think Matt Eberflus will find a way to slow down the Packers’ offensive attack.

We’ll take the Bears to cover (+3) and win (+128) against their NFC North rivals, helping intensify the Justin Fields debate in the Windy City.
