Purple opens as the favorite

What color of Gatorade will be dumped over the winning coach’s head? Purple (+200) is the favorite after being the Chiefs’ choice following their 38-35 victory over the Eagles last year. However, Andy Reid was slathered with the OG flavor, Orange (+450), when Kansas City defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl 54.

Blue (+400) was weaponized in both 2021 and 2022 and four of the past eight Super Bowls. Yellow/Green/Lime (+450), Red/Pink (+450) and Clear/Water (+1000) are other available options.

How the Gatorade color is selected

No matter what color you pick, don’t waste too much brainpower figuring it out. According to a former Gatorade exec, the company picks the flavors, not the teams.

In an effort to keep it randomized, up to three coolers with different flavors are lined up for the players to grab so nothing is assured until the athletes make their choice. Since it hasn’t made an appearance since the Eagles’ 2018 Super Bowl triumph, we’ll go with Yellow/Green/Lime (+450) to make its return to the big stage.

Under 86½ Seconds-105-105-105

Reba McEntire over/under

The over/under on Reba McEntire’s national anthem is 86.5 seconds – that’s the lowest over/under for a  national anthem in Super Bowl history. For reference, Chris Stapleton took 121 seconds last year – hitting the UNDER on 125 seconds. However, that was the only anthem UNDER to cash over the past five Super Bowls. The shortest-ever rendition of the Star Spangled Banner goes to Neil Diamond – 62 seconds back in Super Bowl 21.

Reba McEntire has performed the anthem at multiple sporting events throughout the years. And, according to my Internet sleuthing, the country music legend is averaging about 82 seconds. Take the UNDER on 86.5.

Heads or Tails?

Betting on the Super Bowl coin toss is a tradition as old as time. Tails (-101) leads Heads (-101) 30 to 27 in the all-time series. Tails got back on track last year after Heads had won in back-to-back Super Bowls, as well as four of the past five years.

Bettors can also wager if the team that calls the coin toss will be correct. And, if the team that wins the coin toss will also win the Super Bowl. Interestingly enough, the club that won the coin toss ended up losing the game in eight consecutive years heading into Super Bowl 57, but the Chiefs broke that streak last year.
