Lamar Jackson has crept up the MVP betting odds leaderboard as the 2023 NFL season has progressed. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback’s performance in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams didn’t hurt those odds. Jackson threw for 316 yards in that game, which was his second-highest total of the season. The Ravens’ QB added 70 yards of rushing, which was also his second-highest total of the year. Jackson needs to be a threat in the air and on the ground if the Ravens hope to succeed against tough teams like the 49ers.
Another thing the Ravens need to do to win is to hold onto the ball. Early in the season the team struggled with that part of the game. Over the past few weeks, Baltimore has committed far fewer turnovers.
San Francisco 49ers betting breakdown
While Lamar Jackson might be rising in the MVP betting odds, he still has a long way to go to catch the man who is one spot in front of him, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who is right on the heels of leading MVP candidate Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys. Purdy is third in the NFL in passing yards (3,553), first in passer rating (116.9), first in completion percentage (70.2), tied for second in passing touchdowns (25), and fourth in yards passing per game (273.3).
In addition to Purdy, the 49ers have the only player in the league with more than 1,000 rushing yards following Week 14 in Christian McCaffrey, who has racked up 1,177 yards and 12 touchdowns over 13 games in 2023.
San Francisco’s defense has allowed the fewest rushing yards in the league at 1,018.
