The Seattle Seahawks suffered a blow last week when starting quarterback Geno Smith injured his groin and was ruled out of the team’s Week 14 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Drew Lock filled in for Smith. In his first start of the year, Lock went 22-39 for 269 yards with two touchdowns, two interceptions, and four sacks in a losing effort. The start was Lock’s first since he was with Denver in 2021, and he should improve on those numbers and be more consistent if he gets more reps with the starters.
Seattle’s defense gave up 505 yards in the game against the 49ers. The previous week, the Seahawks surrendered 411 yards to the Cowboys. Seattle’s defense is in the bottom half of the league in passing and rushing yards. That’s something they need to shore up if they hope to finish the 2023 NFL season at .500 or better.
