Pittsburgh Steelers betting breakdown

Losing when you are the betting favorite has to sting, but what happened to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13 and Week 14 is far worse than losing to a betting underdog. In those two games, the Steelers lost to two teams who entered those games with two wins apiece. That does not bode well for the Steelers as the 2023 playoffs approach.

Pittsburgh’s backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky played in those two losses after starter Kenny Pickett suffered an ankle injury and underwent surgery in early December. Pickett has been ruled out of Week 15, and there’s no news if he will return before the end of the season.

Trubisky did not play well in either of the games he started, which both came at home. If Trubisky is going to be under center for the rest of the year, he needs to improve in a big way.

Seattle Seahawks betting breakdown

The Seattle Seahawks suffered a blow last week when starting quarterback Geno Smith injured his groin and was ruled out of the team’s Week 14 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Drew Lock filled in for Smith. In his first start of the year, Lock went 22-39 for 269 yards with two touchdowns, two interceptions, and four sacks in a losing effort. The start was Lock’s first since he was with Denver in 2021, and he should improve on those numbers and be more consistent if he gets more reps with the starters.

Seattle’s defense gave up 505 yards in the game against the 49ers. The previous week, the Seahawks surrendered 411 yards to the Cowboys. Seattle’s defense is in the bottom half of the league in passing and rushing yards. That’s something they need to shore up if they hope to finish the 2023 NFL season at .500 or better.
