- The Browns defense dismantled Joe Burrow’s Bengals last Sunday in a 24-3 victory
- Monday Night Football on ABC kicks off from Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA at 8:15 pm ET
Proving once again that the NFL preseason doesn’t matter, Kenny Pickett and the Steelers flopped in Week 1 versus the 49ers. After a dispiriting 30-7 defeat, Mike Tomlin’s team will now try rebound against the AFC North rival Browns. Cleveland’s defense held golden boy Joe Burrow to just 82 passing yards in a 24-3 beatdown on Sunday.

Deshaun Watson struggles
One of the many mysteries of this NFL season was whether Deshaun Watson would return to form after struggling in the second half of 2022. And while he did lead his team to victory last Sunday, the 27-year-old was 16-of-29 for 154 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The real story of the game was Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.
While the rainy conditions played a role, Cleveland held Burrow to only 82 passing yards – the third-fewest by a player with 30+ pass attempts and zero picks since at least 1950.
New All-22 on @TheNFLWire: Jim Schwartz and the @Browns had a fat stack of different pass-rush plans for Joe Burrow and the @Bengals, and every plan seemed to work.
On a perfect marriage of coaching and talent. Watch out for this defense! https://t.co/0rEZvfbLss

Pittsburgh disappoints
Preseason hype bunny Kenny Pickett passed for 232 yards, a TD and two INTs in a 30-7 blowout loss to the 49ers. Pickett started the game with five consecutive three-and-outs and was sacked five times on the day. While San Francisco has one of the league’s top defenses, the offensive performance has to have Steelers fans worried.
“We got kicked in the teeth today in a lot of ways,” said Mike Tomlin after suffering the worst home loss (23 points) of his career.
Steelers vs Browns
Cleveland is a 2-point road favorite in Acrisure Stadium and the over/under is set at just 39.5 points. The AFC North rivals split their season series last year, with each team holding court at home.
With both offenses struggling mightily in week 1, it’s hard to imagine a lot of points being scored on Monday night. Steelers receiver Diontae Johnson will miss at least a month with a hamstring injury and sophomore wideout George Pickens finished with only 36 yards versus the Niners. Meanwhile, Najee Harris carried the ball only six times for 31 yards.

Best Bet
Nick Chubb had 18 carries for 106 yards on Sunday and is going up against a defense that permitted 152 yards and a score to Christian McCaffery in Week 1.
While winning in Pittsburgh has never been easy for the Browns franchise, they have the superior team. Take Cleveland and the UNDER on Monday Night Football.
